Chainsaw 1, leg 0

<serious thread>

Was not paying attention and took a chunk out of my leg with chainsaw.

Wound is about 2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch deep. I was wearing jeans when the accident happened, changed into shorts when I got back to the house.

I'll post a pic if requested an its ok with the mods.

~ EDIT ~

Moderator told me to keep the images as links only.

Consider all of these NSFW

ER bed, raw image of the wound

Me trying to relax before the doctor shows up. The wound was wrapped before going to the ER

Getting ready to have staples put in

The finished product

11 staples, tetanus shot, prescription for oral antibiotics and oral pain killers.

The worst part as the lidocaine shots before the staples.

Post pic of chainsaw.

Pieces of denim visible in the teeth

Deep wounds are how major infections start... The types that require amputation.

I'm not a doctor or medical anything though, so good luck.

If it's that deep, wide and long you could also be bleeding internally somewhere or also formed a blood clot. It sounds like you should get some stitches and a tetanus shot and possibly an antibiotic, if nothing else. Your leg is covered in large veins that spider out all over the place. Do yourself a favor and at least go to a clinic and have it looked at.

BTW, I would not recommend getting the tetanus shot mixed up with the whooping cough (pertussis) and diphtheria vaccine. Request only the tetanus one if they have it.

I'll hunt down a link explaining why here in a few.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2390182

Basically, in just this study (and there's many more), 87% of the 730 children studied had side effects, including fever, after the multiple dose vaccine. Since you are now injured, you do not want potential side effects from other vaccines you do not need now.

Note the OPs username. He could've gotten shot in the neck and still probably would argue that going to the doc is pointless. 😀

The wound is just into the fat layer and not into the muscle.

Waiting on a mod to say its ok. I dont know the rules about posting gory images.

If you're worried post a link to the image with a NSFW (or NSFL depending on content) tag before and after the link.

I'd love to see that link.

The last tetanus booster I got was a TDaP shot. Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis. Army standard booster.

Do I have the autism now?

Am I special now? 😀

In which case, he gets to use the saw again to finish the job. :hmm:

Edit: I call dibs on the OP's stuff should this progress in a bad way.

Ok, just hope a mod does not get mad about this,

May not be safe for work or anything else - graphic image
