Chain lube

There seems to be a ton of chain lubes out there from wet to dry to bike specific ones. What product would you recommend to a casual MTB XC rider (~50 miles/month).

I've been using this (wet version because I have to ride in the rain occasionally) for years with no complaint.

Under dry conditions the wet lube can collect more dust/gunk. Under wet connections the dry lube washes off more easily.

I've always been a fan of White Lightning Clean Ride.

I prefer waxed based lubes as well because it's cleaner and first started out with White Lightning Clean Ride as well. I found myself having to lube it very often though, like every 40-50 miles. I switched to Boeshield and haven't looked backed, I relube about every 150 miles or so.

The retail stuff is so freaking expensive, that I worked up my own formula:

3 parts odorless mineral spirits
1 part mobile 1 (or equivalent) synthetic motor oil

This is my go-to for the dry climate I ride in. I've heard some good things about a product called "Squirt". I haven't tried it yet, so I can not vouch for it.

When using wax based lubes, I've found it best to apply the evening before your ride to maximize lubrication and help keep the chain clean. If you apply right before your ride, the moisture from the newly applied lube will still pick up some unwanted grime.
