Conservatives feel the delusional world they were forced to conform to as children must continue to be forced on everyone. Self questioning, doubt, shame, nonconformity, etc. threaten the that world, an altered reality they fled to escape the endless torture they were exposed to, the force they are now willing to use on the left.

The delusion their altered reality supplies then with is that they are privileged and special because the straight jackets they wear make them worthy and special. They lost the joy of being and boarded the narcissism train.

This altered reality in which many valuable values exist only by fear rather than logical buy in, can never be sustained because there will always be people who will sense by instinct something is wrong with the program, will find empathy for themselves via empathy for all victims.
