Census2020 ... Can I just check No Change and be done with it?

Census2020.png "The census records where people live on a particular date: April Fools Day.

So, if my location hasn't changed why cannot I just not check No Change and be done with it? Oh, because it ain't just about where you live. But what bothers me most about the Census is that are more than willing to threaten you for not responding when other agencies and departments within the same Federal government already have the information to begin with. Given the nature of their attitudes, I would feel better if they met me in some back alley at gun/knife-point and mugged me for the information. I mean, if it is going to be against my will then I should at least get the satisfaction of being mugged outside of my home. 😀

Take a dump on the form and return it to them. That will show em!!!!! Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, anyone now coming to my front door will be met with a streaming camera. Let's see what kind of attitude, and threats, they may want to make while being recorded this time around. I'll continue to holster the sidearm, though.

Probably not worth giving them trouble, just do it. But yeah I always found the census odd since the government already has all that information anyway. Even stuff like religion is pretty easy to find out by seeing which church you go to.

Are we talking about the US Census?

Why would you need to fill one out? Don't you live in Canada?

What about people that don't go to church?

We have that here too. Though I'm not sure how often... only had to do it once that I remember.

Then they can go by other data too, that was just an example. Ex: online conversations. The government knows everything about everyone.

Yes the government should just go by what people are writing online, great idea. /S

Census can't pull data from any other sources - it's one of the few things that are completely separated by other part of Fed Gov so people answer it truthfully (eg if you're an illegal alien that information doesn't get passed to ICE).

Seriously, doing the census took me less than five minutes. Don't be a paranoid boomer.

I'm not a Boomer, I'm Gen X, and it isn't about the time it takes to do the Census. It is about giving data the left hand of the Feds already has to the Right hand. It is about wasting resources for data already known. The added aspect of being threatened by a Census taker is just another level of annoyance, and a waste of Federal resources.

The purpose of government not creating the grand database of everything you is to protect you from the government. Government inefficiency is the last bastion of freedom.

Yeah I did my census and I don't understand people that complain about it....

HOWEVER....

With today's technology you can't tell me that they can't get accurate measurements of people living in areas by other means, no? I mean essentially all this does is determine budget allocation? I wonder how much budget is wasted just trying to get a measurement of how to allocate it lol.

More importantly, it allocates congressional seats.

This should have been posted in the first world problem thread.

Easy to complete the form online. It takes less time and requests less (IMHO) sensitive information than most social media or shopping accounts.

Information is power, the founding fathers of the United States knew that.

Heh, being unemployed for quite a while I spotted some IT job with the census. Applied. Time passed. Out of the blue got a call and asked if I wanted to be a taker. I said sure, why the hell not. Foot in the door and chances are it would lead somewhere else.

Man, what a circus I could tell with the whole hiring process.
