Football season is too short and has a different dynamic that long seasons like football, hockey and baseball.

Celtics won't win the championship, but the Patriots might.

*cough * 90s Chicago Bulls *cough *
*cough * 60s Boston Celtics *cough *

I get your point though and generally agree.

Celtics may not win the championship, but the Patriots will.

/fixed the last part 😉

Appealing to history rarely works and is only useful for sports announcers during a stoppage in play.

I'm not too confident about the Patriots taking it all. The Celtics will go the way of last years Mavs.

Who's appealing? Bulls and C's dominated and always had high expectations going into the playoffs. Won a few championships between them as well.

I'm not making a direct correlation between:
fantastic record = championship

I have no doubt (barring serious injuries) the Celtics will win at least 60 games but can everyone please STFU about 70 wins and this team's place in history at least until the season is over?

why dont they just play all games behind closed doors and at the end of the season announce the standings and champion?

why do you think we have threads each week on ATOT about the upcoming nfl games?

cuz its fun to make predictions and analyze and discuss as you go.

Well actually you did make the direct correlation, with examples of such in the post in which they were mentioned. I get your point, without the history review and such.

I was assuming you knew the logical fallacy of "appealing to history". The fallcy implies that in the past something has happened, though similar circumstances currently exist, it is not bound to happen.

Either way, go Celtics!

You have to be wary of any team that starts strong, dominates the season and goes into the playoffs with high expectations.
I would never bet on a team like that.

What you quoted from me isn't appealing to history. That's just my opinion on who to put money on in the sports books.
I provided no historical information on which to imply a future outcome, only vague opinions.
As a revision, Gambler's Fallacy is more relevant to our exchange in this thread.

Who are the Celts? Are they the midget league Celtics team?

Who is NanoStuff? Is he saying that his stuff is nano sized? His nano-sized junk is definitely not going to please the ladies.

You guys are speaking in tongues, must be Belichick `borgs.... I'm done for.
