I like it when people near me are talking on a cell phone, since I'm an insatiable eavesdropper. 
First of all, I only pay $35 a month. The local home area is far larger with the cell phone than with a standard phone, not to mention I get free long distance, so i can call my friends on long island and new jersey for free at night instead of spending a millioon dollars a month on regional call charges. I frequently travel back and forth from li to nyc, and when youre trying to meet someone at a proper time at one place or another, a cell phone is a godsend. So yes, the $35 I spend on my cell phone a month is absolutey worth every penny. Everyone that owns a cell phone doesnt necessarily have the million minute plan and spends every second on it, although I know some that do. The simple fact is that theyre better in most ways than a standard phone, so why the hell not? The fact that I have the option to call someone anywhere any time, or that people who want to reach me easily can (although I deny most calls to me), is well worth it.
I dunno what you think makes you special that you have earned the privelidge to have a cell phone, but in actuality you just sound like an asshole.

You will be surprised if you go visit asian countries like Japan and Taiwan. Each person usually have 3 cell phones. One for business, another for personal and last one for people that they dont want to talk to but have to for some reasons.
It's amazing how many people find it necessary to call somebody between classes at college.

At some places, people need to learn some courtesy, and learn not to forget to turn them off in certain places. Unfortunately, out and about, on the street, in malls, bars, restaurants of the level of Applebee's and below (no, Applebee's is not fine dining!), I've got a word of advice: Get used to it!
BTW, it's not that there are too many, or not enough of them out there, so I voted for the fourth option in the poll, even though you've got no chance of world domination when you finally come up against me.

Cell phones are a great tool, they are handy, they can save lives, they save time etc etc. The flip side is that there's a large population of idiots out there that now 'need' to use a cell phone to show how 'cool' and hip they are. They have to yap on the phone when in line or when in a store, somehow delusionally thinking that their stupid conversation is important enough for everyone to hear. Sheeesh.
I was in an elevator the other day when some guy decided he needed to talk to his buddy about some stupid party from the previous weekend. The other folks in the elevator started laughing at the guy and he got off at the next floor.

I heard in Japan, that if you are a kid attending school, and if you don't have a cell phone, you're pretty much a social reject.
If im not in my house, I am busy. Its simple really. When I get back to my house, I will no longer be busy.

someone needs to write a virus that kills them. i am sick of hearing them go off while im trying to watch a movie, although it has been funny as heck seeing people get caught with them at school (against the rules to have them at school, even if they are off). we'll be sitting in class and all of a sudden you hear that "take me out to the ball game" come out of some chicks purse, followed by the teacher going "what is that" hehehehhee. people need to learn to use vibration
or *GASP* turn them off. My god, its not like the school cant be contacted in case of emergencies.

has anyone ever been in a car with 3 idiots on their cell phones talking to other people? it drives me insane
if you don't like listening to me talking on the phone then dont' listen, no i will not turn the phones of at resturant just so u can have a peacefull time whille you are at resturant. Also get used to phones being everywhere as practically everyone will own a cell phone in the near future. As for 8 year old having a phone, don't see a problem with that. Mostly 8 year old have a cell phone for safety reason when they are at the mall and the parents want to be able to rich them at any time or the other way.

its not a status symbol...beccause almost everyone has one! its like cars...is having a car a status symbol? its only a status symbol if its a nice looking car or an expensive car.
yes there are some folks who dont use them reasonable. like the ones who yap on the bus about personal stuff. its quite fun listening in to their conversation though.

cell phones should be banned. if not that, ringtones should be banned. those are the worst. i know you don't feel manly when there's some ghey song being played. also, people should leave the room while on the phone.
I don't think cell phones should be banned, but you should be banned from having one. Won't turn your phone off? Why the hell can't you have some common courtesy? I, and everyone else who wants to SHOULD be able to have a peaceful time at a restaruant. And if I knew you were yakking on your phone in a restaurant just to piss me off I would beat your ass.
if you are ever in los angeles area, stop by century city mall and you will see 8 year old by them self shopping for cloth and they all have cell phones,mall near beverly hills
