Cell phone app for lifting tracking

It has some nice features - but its still lacking some of the core things I'm looking to do here. There are some cool things there I hadn't thought of. Thanks for the tip. I do still have an Android phone - a G1 and I'm running Android on my HD2.

For the record I am still planning on porting this to multiple platforms, namely Android and iPhone. I had the shell of the Android version in place before migrating to WP7. I have my reasons for releasing with WP7, though.

Oddly the picture doesn't seem to show up anymore. This is the latest:

I still have a few features to implement before release, namely full server syncing, social network integration, goals, and weight tracking...but all in all, I've got the vast majority of the app completed. So go get a WP7 device on release so you can use it 😉 Or wait until I port to another platform, I suppose.

I do have another fitness-related app idea, which that I actually think will have a wider appeal. This one I'll be debuting on Android. Stay tuned!

Nope. No release date has been announced - the latest rumors say end of October for Europe, beginning of November for the US. My goal is to have this entirely ready to go & submitted to the marketplace by then.

I'd like to, but it depends on its reception. As far as I know, you have to have a Mac to do iOS development...and a Mac I do not own. So I need some indication of success with the app before making that plunge.

Written in C#. The SDK is very easy to use...its just Silverlight, with Phone-specific extensions/APIs. If you haven't used Silverlight before, its very easy to pick up - I don't exactly consider myself a UI guy, and its pretty easy to jump in and get the hang of it.

Any suggestions on stats you'd like to see charts for? So far I've added max weight per day, max reps per day, sets per day, total weight per day, total reps per day, and reps vs weight.

Update if anyone still cares - the app is released in both free and paid forms on WP7. I'm working on the web interface - right now its still pretty basic and limited to users of the paid version. However, once its more complete, I might open it up to the general public, that way users on other platforms can use it in the meantime.

total volume. Maybe a way to track how long your workouts are. Add in a timer function so you can time your rest between sets. Maybe for building a workout have the option to select either a bodypart/muscle. and include a way to view an animation/tips/alternative lifts that work that part. A la exrx.net but on your phone. So you go to a page. Select build a workout. part > exercise. #sets. blah blah.

Maybe include preset routines. stronglifts 5x5, 5x3x1, 10x10, 3x12 etc.

As for the timer - I do have an auto-countdown timer. You set how long you want to rest between sets, and as soon as you enter one, it starts counting down. When it gets to 0, the phone vibrates. Is that what you're looking for? It also records the time, so if you don't follow the timer, you'll be able to see how far apart the sets were.

I have some semblence of what you're talking about with muscles and routines. You can create your own exercises if you don't like the presets, and add tags to them. Tags can be anything - muscle group, body part, etc. You can then search for exercises by tag to find specific things.

When creating a routine, you select an exercise list, and then have the option to add a week/multiweek schedule, where you say which day you do which exercise + expected reps/sets. If you did set a schedule, you can say what week it starts at (if its multiweek), and when you view the routine, it tells you what exercises you're supposed to do that day.

I'd like to eventually add some sort of animation or video to demonstrate the preset exercises. That's a lot of effort though, haha.

I don't think I can use your app because my phone has WinMo 5 but these are features I think would be good for a workout app. Sounds like you're doing a good job on it.

hmph. I have a competitor that is gaining ground on me in download count, and he has images of lifts. I think I need to spend a few hours in the gym with a camera....

I just downloaded the free version. It is nice. Great job! What is added to the pro version?

Thanks!

Pro removes the ads & syncs with a server. That way your workouts are backed up so if you ever get a new phone or anything, you dont' lose them, also you can access your stuff on deekfit.com.

edit: PS, if you wanted to leave a marketplace review with your thoughts, I wouldn't mind....

Sounds like it is definitely worth the upgrade. Can you design your workouts online?

Right now you can view your workout data, and view/add bodyweight data from the web interface. That's what I'm currently working on, though. I expect to have a couple of updates to the site within the next week that will give it all the same features as the app.

Sounds like you are on top of it. I just purchased the pro version. I am looking forward to using it.

Cool, thanks!

FYI - if you have data in the free version already, you can port it to pro. From free, hit the sync button, it brings up a screen telling you to upgrade. There's a button on that page to back up your data. Then, in pro, go to the settings page, and hit "restore". This is different from the standard server syncing...its a one way thing that just ports the data from free->pro.

If you have any comments or bugs or anything like that, let me know (either in this thread or on the support forums on deekfit.com)...I basically designed this to suit my needs, but not everyone wants what I do, so it helps to get as much feedback as I can.
