Celica Vs Eclipse....

Either the 2001 Celica or the 2001 Eclipse. The GT Eclipse has a nice V6 with 200 HP, while the Celica GTS has a 4 cylinder 180 HP engine (technology over raw power?). I heard that the V6 in the Eclipse is really nothing to rave about (same V6 as in Galant), is this true? Which would you get?

No...the V-6 is a smooth power plant...tranny kinda stinky poo...the Eclipse is just too heavy for a FWD sports car, IMO. It's not as raucous as the 1st Gen Diamond Stars.

the new eclipse is just no longer in the same class as the celica and other small jap cars. Its just too big.

Of the two, i'd get the celica. very nice car.

Spend your money on a '96 TT 300ZX, you won't regret it (how can you turn 300 horses down??)

Celica got the Lomburgini's robotic look.... it doesn't have the "aerodynamic" look.
imo, its quite weird.

that new celica is the ugliest thing i've seen since the Pontiac Aztek. it doesn't look sporty at all to me.

i agree with the 300zx, though. great looking car, too.

You last two are smoking CRACK!!! The new Celica is gorgeous!! The Eclipse is big, fat, and uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugly. Damn scalloped sides, plain looking front, and crap ass rear end. It's no longer a speedy sports car for the younger generation...it's now a car for 40-50 year olds with small dick-itis

Have you looked into the Prelude? And between the two go for the Celica. But I also agree with the other guys, try to find a used Nissan 300zx.

no, YOU'RE on crack. the front end of the celica looks as bad as a pontiac aztek. wtf is wrong with those headlights, why do they have to go all the way up to the windshield? the rear end is too large, too. there's just too much material over the wheel wells. just plain un-inspiring.

the celica is the thrid fugliest car on the road, behind the aztek and the echo. when toyota's &quot;younger image&quot; cars came out last year i called it the toyota ugly as hell look. the celica is just a wanna-be integra, has absolutely no room inside, bad visisbiliry out the back, and a huge ass. this new-edge design BS was good on one car, maybe two, but now everyone does it and its ugly as hell. for my money its the eclipse. sure, its not as &quot;sporty&quot; as the f-ing celica, but &quot;sporty&quot; sucks anyway. and i'll bet that 6 can be tricked a lot more than that vvt-i 4 banger. and the rear overhang on the celica is so short it looks funny. like the wheels are about to fall off the back.

i thought the new eclipse was ugly until i actually saw one..i think it's beautiful...
imho, it's also better looking than the new celica...but it's not really the same type of car anymore...it's built off of the galant platform now, right?

as for little cars...damnit i want an mr2 soooo bad.

Celica is just ugly. Eclipse is nice and all but too heavy for racing. Me, personally would look into a used BMW or RX-7 .
