That's his way of telling me that he felt the water in his dish was not fresh enough. He got his way -- I gave him fresh water (he demands I change it several times a day). But nah... they're stupid animals incapable of thought. Those 2 incidences couldn't have been related.

That is entirely different. Oh and...you only mentioned one incident there.

Sure...if he doesn't have water or food or something he is going to let you know. Duh.

Perhaps coincidentally, he has started peeing in my things.

Coincidentally? Ha ha.

He never does this on my wife's belongings or in her presence.

That's because your wife isn't rejecting him, or shooing him away.

Does my cat hate me? 🙂

He doesn't hate you, he's just teaching you who is boss.

I'm going to have to change my opinion of you, now that I know that you are cat people.

No cats do not do things out of spite.
I've had cats all my life and know for fact that they do. I take it you've never had any cats? Or maybe you just think they're stupid furballs and have never bothered to get inside their little heads?
I have a cat. And I've had many, many, many cats over the years and know for a fact that they don't. I am not saying that they are stupid. They are far from that. But they do not do things out of spite - it is a foreign concept to them.
Spite a foreign concept to cats? That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on ATOT.

Well it is.

He had water. A full bowl of it only a few hours old. He demanded my attention and fresh water.

And? That is still one incident.

My desk is at least 40 feet and several rooms away from his water dish.

Are you trying to make some sort of point here? If so you're failing miserably.

We had a black Maine my excellent compatriot but he died at the age of 2 about 8 months ago.

Feline Cardiomyopathy. It is very common in the Maine my excellent compatriot breed. Be sure to get yours checked by your vet. The time between he was diagnosed and he died was less than 2 months.

I started going out late and taking trips to NYC more frequently about a month or so ago and my little female kitty is acting like a douche.

She crapped on my old Soundgarden and Nirvana posters and keeps crapping on a lot of my cool stuff 🙁

I'm pretty sure they do do things out of spite.

They do not. You might try looking into animal behaviour.

yes.

he is trying to chew my power cords right now... ha ha, i just applied "bitter apple" yesterday. that'd teaching him... trying to get my attention for food.

he already destroyed a few telephone cords and my speakers (cheap $30 2.1 pc speakers). I should've done this earlier.

Spank the ah heck when he does something he's not supposed to and tell him NO. Be consistent and you won't have any problems.

Also buy a scratching post if you don't have one.

A spray bottle with water also works well for reinforcement.

LOL @ thread. hahahaha! i'm really sorry about your cat OP, but man, the replies are friggin comedy gold! I never knew cats can do that lol.

and lol @ the pisser.jpg hahaha

One of my cats kept chewing the corner of the cabinet next to the toilet. Given that it's an apartment, that' going to go on my damages bill when I move out. The bitter apple stuff worked great in getting her to stop.

why does it have to be spite? maybe she's just angry that your ignoring her and disappearing for long periods of time? maybe she's trying to communicate something to you?

yep. My GF wanted to get a cat. I reluctantly agreed. I hate the ah heck. god knows how much $$ damages she's done to my stuff. I don't even want to think about it, actually.

I hate cats.
