Mine was canceled. Big shock:Q. They gave me a $5 off of $30 or more coupon code for my next order before August 1st 2003. If anyone needs it, pm me and I'll give you the one time use code.

defend them all you want, I think its bs we didn't get any notification, here is a copy of the email I spent time to write and send to them because they were too lazy to send me an automized one, I suggest you do the same if you were dissatisfied with this incident:

To: orders@dvdplanet.com
Hey I just wanted to thank you guys for the email you never sent me to let me know you took the liberty to cancel my order, that was a great business move, shows a lot of integrity in your customer communication and definetely boosted everyones view of your company. Not only will I nor anyone I know never buy from you again, I will also proceed to jump on the bandwagon of bashing your company in any way I can. Check the comsumer and deals forums on the internet, and cherish any customers you have left after this moronic stunt you guys pulled. Have a happy going-out-of-business and also burn in h*ll you b*stards.

You are a fuqing idiot. I just want you to know how stupid you are. Maybe you should "burn in h*ll". You're lucky they didn't charge the you full price and ship it anyway. It was an honest mistake, you try to get in on the deal expecting it not to ship and if it does then you feel gratefull you got lucky. People like you are worthless jerks and don't deserve a place like anandtech. They don't owe you a cancellation email, you tried to buy a dvd for a buck and it didn't go through. You probably ordered 500 of them to sell on ebay. Get a life.

my order history is wiped clean. *poof*. o well, it was worth a shot. would've been nice if they emailed me telling my order was cancelled and not just remove it like it never existed.

How come? I think a notification should be required in the least. I have no problems with a company who at least has the decency to notify me of a cancelled order especially after I take the risk of giving them all my information including credit card info.

this company sucks. I don't care that they cancelled my order. I really didn't expect to get it anyway but I feel it is required for them to send me an email saying my order was cancelled. Instead they just delete my order and that's it. Now I might be an ass and have american express take things up with them. Hopefully they will go out of business soon because they don't deserve to stay in business without any type of customer service.

Get a life, you wanted to take advantage of their price mistake but it didn't work. They've got 10,000 of you leeches to contend with today, probably 1000x their usual volume.

Excuuuuse them for not handling you with the care you deserve..

Telling them to burn in hell for not sending a notification out?

Maybe they're getting around to it, and it's easier to mass cancel in their system. What if they're a small organization and they're doing their best? You guys are tools for having no concept what it's like on their side. It's an honest mistake, get on with your lives.

Here take a look at their Pricing Policy:

Pricing

We do our best to keep information as up-to-date as possible. But sometimes errors do occur. We reserve the right to refuse orders placed with erroneous pricing.

In addition they did send email to people cancelling their orders. Oh and what're you going to do with American Express? They didn't charge your card. As far as Amex is concerned you're just a whining customer who's got too much time on their hands. They won't do squat for you. They will NOT go out of business soon because they are smart enough to not honor 20,000 requests in which they take probably a $6 loss per order on. You'd have to buy a helluva lot of dvd's to compensate for that. In addition how many times have you shopped with them before hand? Most of these people have never ordered with dvdplanet before (I know I haven't). Thus they aren't losing any revenue. I'd say that coupon was enough.

I totally agree, Rufio. However, if you venture on over to skinny purse, you and I would be in the minority there. I received the email after reading the whining about the orders being cancelled at FW, and the first thing I thought of when I read the email was, "Hmm, will that satisfy the dimwits?" Sure enough, they are giving their codes away, and p!ssing and moaning still.

Getting a good deal is one thing, putting a company out of business because a pimply-faced kid mistyped something is another.

I got a canceled order email... and they gave me a $5 off $30 coupon.

Subject: Your Recent Order With DVDPlanet

Dear DVDPLANET Customer,

Due to a system error, the prices for ROAD TO PERDITION and CATCH ME IF
YOU CAN were listed incorrectly on our website. The correct price for
each title is $14.99. Your entire order, which included one or both of
these titles, has been cancelled. Please re-order these items at the
correct price, as well as any other items on the same order. We apologize
for any inconvenience. As a courtesy we have included a $5 coupon,
good on your purchase of $30 or more of items in stock. The coupon
is good through August 1, 2003.

Sincerely,

DVDPLANET

I didn't try and take advantage of them you dumb ass. The site said $1. I made an order and they cancelled an order without telling me. How about the next time you go order something, the company decides to just not tell you they cancelled your order. You're telling me you wouldn't be upset? Given, this is a DVD and it's not a big deal, but this is normal customer service that needs to performed by any company. What happens if you have some special order product that you need in two weeks and they cancel without telling you and you check in two weeks and find out you aren't getting your stuff. You're just going to say, oh well. Right. And I'm made of diamonds. Go say boo-fucking-hoo somewhere else you loser.

If you're using a free email service, check your spam folder if you have one before flipping out too much. I got the same "sorry, wrong price / $5 coupon code" email as others, but yahoo put it in my "bulk mail" folder. I normally just delete all those emails, but I figured I'd check just for this reason.
