6.6's have issues with CF. Such as, putting monitors to "sleep" when starting a game. Disabling CF works fine. With CF, it doest. Ive gone back to 6.5's.

really? ill be testing. i had funky things happen with the Hitman BM demo, but i only tried it with the 6.6s. it was going to checkered patterns on resolution switch (which happens sometimes) but that only requires restarting the game.

Does Catalyst 6.6 allow 1:1 pixel scaling for LCD displays (i.e. centered with black bars for lower resolutions)? If not, then I'm still sticking with Nvidia.

And before you say it, this is NOT monitor-dependent.

Yes, ATI does offer 1:1 pixel scaling with DVI only, same as Nvidia. It can be enabled in both CCC and Control Panel. Depending if it is CCC or Control Panel, there are two equvalent options:
1. Turn off scaling OR
2. Enable Centered Output

Do you have an ATI card with DVI and DVI monitor that doesn't have these options? I like to know as I have started a thread on this matter.

I used to have a Sapphire Radeon X800 GT 256 MB, and the 1:1 scaling options only worked for that with 1280 x 720, 1280 x 768, and I think 640 x 480. Everything else stretched to fill the entire 1280 x 1024 native resolution of my Samsung SnycMaster 730B, so I switched to an eVGA 6600 GT, and it works perfectly and scales 1:1 perfectly at ALL resolutions.

Yep, sadly its true. Ive seen a few other people with the same problem. As I said, VGA fixes it, so it seems to be only a DVI/LCD thing. Or maybe its just Dell LCD's, Im not sure. All I know is, my LCD light turned from gree (on) to yellow (sleep) when I started up a game. I tried 3 games (Tomb Raider, Prey demo, and BF2). All I could do is power down the PC, and restart. Since I couldnt see to hit the exit button, and alt+tabbing, or ctrl-alt-del did nothing.

I've tried downloading it again from the ATI site, and I STILL get the NSIS corrupted/incomplete installer. Again, I've downloaded it from the ATI site itself! I've been clicking on the high speed download one with the WDM drivers with it.

The low-speed dial-up installer works, though. Do I have to install the WDM drivers along with the display drivers or can I keep the old WDM drivers?

I have a Radeon X1900XT, so I, obviously, don't have an all-in-wonder card.

So, do I download and install only the Display drivers and the Catalyst Control Center, or do I download the WDMs as well, because from the sounds of the release notes, the WDMs were only for All-in-wonder cards. What do WDM drivers do, anyway?

The ATI WDM driver is a series of drivers used to enable the capture and TV tuner features on VIVO boards, AND the All-In-Wonder® series of cards produced by ATI Technologies Inc.

The ATI WDM Driver Install bundle contains both the ATI WDM Driver 4.07 and 8.263. The setup program automatically detects the graphic adapter installed in your system and installs the appropriate ATI WDM components for the graphic adapter. The WDM version 8.263 will install on:

* All-In-Wonder® X1900 Series
* All-In-Wonder® X1800 Series
* All-In-Wonder® X800 Series
* All-In-Wonder® X600 Series
* All-In-Wonder® 2006 Series
* All-In-Wonder® 9800 Series
* All-In-Wonder® 9600 Series

The ATI WDM driver version 4.07 will install on:

* Radeon® 9200 series or earlier All-In-Wonder® products
* ATI VIVO products

I've installed the Catalyst 6.6s after a day of pain and the 6.6s just weren't any good for me. Wouldn't even let me set the clocks back up to 625/725 from 621/720. I decided to revert back to the 6.5s.

Anyone else have the "Rage Theater" now identified as "T200 Unified"? Also, a new "Microsoft-TV Video" network connection installed? Nutty.

They have obviously been fiddling around yet fail once again to fix two-long standing critical TVO defects:

CAT 5.3 introduced the incorrect resolution (Windows error events reporting non-standard mode) which vertically stretches the image

CAT 5.11 added forced Video Mode (disabling Adjustments and Overscan) which crops the image

Incompetent fokkers.

6.6 Cats are a bad joke.

That's all i feel like saying.

All I see are 2 people who have crossfire and monitor problems. I have crossfire and a widescreen monitor -- no problems whatsoever.

As for performance, man great boost in all my games and my 3dmark scores went up 😛

Is there a 6.6 chuck patch?

6.6 betas have chuck patch. Even though it says something about intel and core 2 duo, it will work just like any other driver. However, you need to download the new WDM and CCC. Search for it -- I forget where I got them.

updated to 6.6. no crashing in CS:S or anything in windows so far. haven't benchmarked as i gave up on all that 3dmark crap. dont feel anything different. CCC is still the same.
