If those numbers are true, I'm quite suprised. I didn't think drivers could really make that kind of improvement... unless AMD was sandbagging or there were bugs that they worked out to get the performance. I'm looking forward to these drivers now. :)

Maybe Catalyst 10.3 is AMD's answer to Fermi...

Wow, @ 1920x1200, the gains in Dirt 2 and Batman are massive. But they are comparing against Catalyst 9.11, not 10.2. So I wouldn't say current reviews are outdated.

Yeah those are some astounding performance gains, but its kinda a strange place to find them.

A wiki site?

Those gains are very impressive if the same results are reported by other sites.

This is quite astonishing, I never thought drivers would matter that much.
Though, as he said, older titles saw little to no improvement.

WSGF isn't just "a wiki site", it's the greatest gaming wiki site ever :p

Basically if you have a game and want to find out about its widescreen options, how to get an older game to run in widescreen, or almost anything else resolution related, it's a godsend.

It's not a surprise that ATI would strike up a partnership with them given the whole Eyefinity thing, and if one of the guys near the top decides it would be useful to benchmark, then it's not surprising he would look at things like Eyefinity and changes over time to drivers and performance.

Well, I haven't come across thorough reviews for 10.2, I should have pointed that out though.

Yep the information they have amassed there and the technical knowledge on all things widescreen is amazing. The site is a must if you are using SoftTH, TH2Go or Eyefinity, and they recently started doing hardware reviews of which I'm sure we'll see a lot more of once nVidia Surround hits.

Back when WS monitors were just trickling onto the market, WSGF and the like were invaluable because too many games did not support 16:10 without modifications.

Because of their site I was able to enjoy Divine Divinity on my widescreen. :)

Damn that's insane some of those look close to 100% gains. Makes me wonder if the 5830 will ever beat the 4890 by a good amount with a few more driver updates.
On a side note I love how their benchmark has like 3 fps for the preview 5870 in some of those games at 5760 x 1200.

So, I have my new 5850 in hand, should I just install the WHQL 10.2 drivers or go with the 10.3?

Honestly more interested in what the bug fixes are than performance. Everything I play runs fine on max, so whatever.

Yea seriously. I max out every game so I'm not worried at all but I can't overclock my 5870 at all. Not even 1MHz or else it gets the grey screen.

I wonder if the Dirt 2 had the new patch yet? That will bring bigger gains than seen here.
