Cat people

i'm still waiting on my landlord to respond to my request for a cat but if it goes through, should i get 2 so that they won't be lonely?

I'd get them in a pair. We got a brother and sister Siamese and they love each other. They're always curled up in a ball sleeping or playing around the house. I think it's better for them to have a friend around the house while we are at work.

My husband and I had 1 cat and 1 dog. We had to have the dog put down almost 1 year ago, when that happened I could tell our cat was depressed. He use to have a playmate but he didn't anymore. We got another cat about 5 months ago. At first Cotton didn't like her, now they all the time. I would suggest getting 2 at the same time instead of 1 now then 1 later.

Two at a time is best, if they are kittens. Having two gives them a playmate and another cat to curl up with when you aren't there.

Just remember, you're taking on a 20 year commitment.

unless it runs away or dies, or if he gets tired of it and gets rid of it or poisons it or something.

so it could be worse.

You're a warm and fuzzy kind of guy.

This.

Our cats are inside only, so they need a companion to keep them from being too bored.

2. Its really cute when they curl up together and they can play with eachother when you dont want to play with them. Sure they will gang up on you, esp in the morning for breakfast, but them having companionship when you are not around is worth it

a cat can take care of themselves. 😀

Yeah.. they are good at cleaning their litter boxes, feeding themselves, and taking themselves to the vet.

They generally need less attention from the owner than a dog. Dogs are pack animals, cats are not

Here's another reason to get two. A cat will find a way to entertain itself when you're away. What entertains them most is tearing up your stuff - that's happy fun play time to them.

Maybe, you should get a stuffed bunbun then.

I'm all for dogs but I used to have a cat that had more personality than any dog I've known (grew up with cats and dogs). I would much rather have a cat. Self-reliant. Independant. Don't require constant care and attention and don't stare at you drooling like a damn moron. I swear, cats are smarter than dogs by a long shot.

You must have very limited exposure to dogs then. Since dogs have been proven to be able to problem solve and can be trained to do everything from detecting cancer to assisting the disabled.

I'm talking about pets. Nobody's going to train a cat to watch for crosswalk lights and to flush the toilet. Cats simply don't do what they don't want to do. The ability for them to even choose puts them on a level higher than the low-brow brainless slave of a dog, regardless of what they're doing 😛
