cat or a dog?

Dogs love you long time.

Cats... they just run away and come back whenever the hell they feel like it.

That is all.

Personally I think dog is a little tough; cat on the other hand taste like dark meat chicken. Mmm good, especially with a lil honey sesame glaze. The China Boat right down the street makes a great cat fu-yung.

Now on a serious note, you can't go wrong with either. I've had cats and dogs and I love them both the same though the cats were slightly more detrimental to the furniture.

Gotta love ATOT. Ask about getting a cat and you get 15 replies talking out of their asses about cats because they don't like them and/or have nothing more than anecdotal evidence to back up their claims. At least a few people know what they're talking about....

- Cats can be trained. (How the fvck do you think they know how to use a litter box, for example? Someone has to show them, either their mother or a human)

- Every cat is different. Just because you have one cat who is a bastard doesn't mean that every cat is mean. I've had (and have) the pleasure of knowing some cats with incredible personalities, and I've also known some cats that hated everyone.

i grew up with dogs.. but recently found a love for cats... if i were to get one for my first pet i'd pick a cat mostly cuz of the same reasons other's said. they are very independent and dont need attention, but you can still play with them the same way you play with dogs.. they are EASILY trained...

dogs are very high maintenance. they'll try to eat, pee on, and poop on everything in the house. they'll slobber all over you. they need to be walked a lot. they need to be cleaned. they're more expensive. but, they are more fun too.

cats don't play *with* you as much as near you. but they can be very affectionate and fun to watch. it's a lot of fun watching them try to hunt a standard pen sitting on the table.

cats = good entertainment, decent companionship
dogs = good companionship, decent entertainment

I don't have any experience with cats, but dogs are definitely a lot of work ... I just got a dog for the first time this summer and I've had to put in a lot of effort to get her trained (she's a rescue so she was already basically trained, but it was still a lot of work!). That said, all the hard work and devotion to the dog is rewarding when you come home from a hard day at work and your dog is sooooooooo excited to see you! 🙂 ... If you have the time to put into it, I think having a dog is definitely rewarding ... and besides,

who could resist a face like this????

Cats will tolerate you, sometimes.

I had a cat growing up and had a couple more as an adult.
But they all ended up peeing on my carpet.

I have a dog now and prefer them to cats.
But a dog is more work. You can leave cats home alone while you go on vacation for a few days. Can't do that with a dog.

thats not true, i have 2 cats used to have 4 and they all worship our faimily. they are amazing. my GF is convinced that they are dogs in disguise

my sister has a dog. a pit bull and its a big pussy. acts more liek a cat then a dog. stupid thing weighs 80 lbs and it wants to be in your lap. while your sitting on a stool.

and to solve this problim just get 1 of each from the locial humians society
Like I mentioned in my second post, cats can be very affectionate and fun to have.
What I meant was just that they do it on their own terms. Even the very cuddly cats I've had sometimes just didn't feel like being around me. And when they felt like that, it didn't matter how many times you called them. My dog on the other hand, always comes when I call her and always seems like she is the luckiest thing alive when you give her attention.

I actually like both. But i prefer having a dog right now.

Cute dog...A boxer?

With most cats you can simply place them in the litter box once and they will know from then on where to poo/pee. Something hardwired inside their brain.

Depends on how you want a pet to be. Cats are "just there" and don't need alot of attention, and they won't give much either. Dogs require attention, but will give it in spades.

You don't train cats, they train you. Of course it's easy to get them to come to you when you want them, all you have to do is turn on the Electric Can Opener and they'll be at your feet in seconds.

Get a basset. The dog will sleep whenever you are gone and make great pets. If you are still in the IN area, take a look at GABR.

Great site!

I have a basset named Fred... the love of my life.

Cats are 10X easier to take care of and train.

Ausm

Cats aren't trainable.

Both of my cats, which by the way are only 4 months old, come when I call them... they know what no means, and they obey when I say no. They learned to use the litter box in about 30 seconds... they learned where to scratch and where not to scratch in a manner of weeks. So... cats can be trained... you just have to be smart enough to train them =)

Well said and absolutely true.
Personally I would choose a cat, because I grew up with cats in the house.

My friend Patrick got a cat about a month ago. His apartment already smells like cat pee and feces. I like dogs a lot better...they tend to be cleaner as long as you take care of them and make sure they're walked regularly. (which is a good way to pick up chicks if the dog is the right kind of dog)

I recommend smaller dogs, like perhaps a terrier. I had a Norwich terrier for 17 years and he hardly ever barked at anything...just try to get a smart dog.

Hm. I have a friend that has a dog, and his house smells like dog pee. It's a small dog (can't remember breed).
