That graph in the background, where are those benches from? Also, what is your 9700 clocked at?

I only ask cause the scores on that graph seem quite conservative.

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 2.2GHZ
512MB DDR400
Epox 8rda+
Radeon 9700np 370/321

I am getting ~5300 3dmarks.

This is the first time I've ever seen NFS4 be unreasonable, pointlessly argumentitive and completely off topic :Q.

I got the Marks from DigiLife and my System was highly taxed with Proggies in the Background running 2 other Monitors so yours is about right as long as you have added the Patch.

Just replaced 3.4 with 3.6 after removing 3.4 No problem except 3.6 says I must have DX9 installed. So - I got DX9 and then installed 3.6 - and all is cool.

geez, i dont want to read the whole thread But i was wondering if anyone here is using cat 3.6 with a NF7-s and 9700 pro? cat 3.4 did not get along with the components in my rig (see sig). so i'm running 3.2 but i wanna go to 3.6 assuming there is no conflict

The 3.6's still have wall texture problems in NOLF2 like the 3.5's did so it's back to the 3.4's for me.

Don't get me wrong, the bug fixes are welcome, but why so many bugs in the first place?

I don't think there are any performance increases because the performance is where it should be..

But the stability isn't quite there yet ;)

True, but for the most part i would consider the Cat's just as stable as the Det's...

I haven't used an NVIDIA card in almost 8 months, but I don't remember their driver releases being just a major list of bugfixes.

nvidia doesn't list bugfixes at all. Nor do they list any fixes. They just release beta drivers all the time. What do you think they do? They fix bugs

True, but most of the NVIDIA drivers that I used increased performance with every driver release. I haven't seen the same from ATI.

when you have the fastest card out there why do you need it faster still?

I don't like sitting around waiting for my code to compile. If I had the fastest computer, I'd still want a faster one. Hell, we need Holodecks.

These drivers totally rock and I believe I've finally found the fabled ones that are supposed to increase performance a lot on the 9700 Pro.

Most of my benchmarks are up across the board in most Quake 3 based games and the scores in Serious Sam 1 & 2 are the highest I've ever seen - I'm talking up to 20% faster at 1600 x 1200 and 1792 x 1344. I even triple-checked the IQ and game/driver settings to make sure I hadn't done anything silly but no, everything looks fine.

The drivers do seem to take a longer time to switch resolutions during in-game changes but I only ever change resolutions like that when benchmarking so it doesn't worry me. Also NOLF's mouse is still laggy but every other game seems to run just fine.

Nice work ATi.

Actually in my experience most of nVidia's drivers seldom increased performance at all while ATi's drivers frequently boost performance.
