Yup, I agree w/ all you guys.. Hanks did a good job. I'm sure he'll get some award for that movie.. it was pretty much all him throughout the movie. Sad movie.. and the ending where he meets up w/ his ex gf was pretty sad. I could almost feel the love that they shared and the jacked up position they were both in..

I just saw this movie and I have one thing to say:

*yawn*

One of the worst movies I've seen in awhile. I expected a lot more from Robert Zemeckis than Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy comes back and can't have girl. Too bad. NEXT!

Interesting. It seems that those that liked the movie seem to have missed the message the was trying to deliver.

ok the movie great till the end. Why cus THERE WAS NO ENDING!

It was like well we can't figure out what to do next, lets just end it!

oh well. I'm glad wilson didn't make it to the ship with him. I think there coulda been some trouble then. *wacko*

<< I think there coulda been some trouble then. *wacko* >>

Kelly, this is my friend Wilson 😀

<< Anybody else think he and Bettina probably hooked up at the end? >>

Hehe, did you notice that the "Dick" in the Dick and Betinna sign was gone 🙂

I saw it Friday and I didn't like it. I generally love Tom Hanks movies, but I thought this was one of the worst ones I've seen in a while. I thought Wilson was well done--the emotional attachment was very well acted, but it was all Hanks. After the movie ended my very first thought was "I bet that was an awesome book." I don't know if it was a book (my dad said he read it years ago, but I'm sure there's been other books called "Castaway&quot😉 but it had gaps in it that bothered me. Nothing I can lay a finger on, but at the time I was wondering wtf where did that come from. And I thought the ending was weak. I nearly cried when Wilson was lost at sea and I feel that the movie would have been better off ending after that last scene in the rain with Helen Hunt. I guess they needed to tie the angel's wings thing into the whole thing. I give it 5.5/10 ten being phenomenally good. Personally, I'm waiting for Shrek in May.

Well, I consider Tom Hanks the best actor out there, and have thought so for many years. And the last time he did a movie with director Robert Zemeskis (sp?), they created what I consider to be the greatest movie ever, Forrest Gump (why is this not on DVD....sob 🙁 ).

As for Cast Away....I was rather disappointed. It wasn't the acting (and what a testament to Tom Hanks' acting ability when he makes you almost cry over a volleyball...) but it was the way they did the movie. NFS4 mentions that someone didn't like it because it didn't have the flash of a typical Hollywood movie. I strongly disagree with this, as look at Forrest Gump, which besides the intriguing idea of placing Forrest in historic events, there were none.

The movie itself, as I mentioned, is "different". A great deal of the movie is spent on what I call, "quite time". It's almost like watching a nature show. I did indeed become bored, but it was not a terrible movie at all. It just wasn't up there with other legendary Tom Hanks movies, in my opinion.

You guys wouldn't know a good thing if it fell out of a coconut tree and popped you on the head in the middle of the night while you held an oar 🙂

maybe it was just me and i was reading too much into the film but i thought that it was implied that he would hook up with bettina. basically he was trying to figure out where he was going to head next and bettina basically said that if u follow that road (the one leading to her house) there was a whole lotta nothing til u hit cananda. at the end when he is looking in all the different directions he finally stops on the road leading to her farm. what do u all think?? hehe. anyways i thought the film was awesome. sure it was slow a little bit but considering practically teh whole film was centered around only one actor i thought it was very well done. only one guy, tom hanks would be able to carry a whole film himself and still keep the audience captivated (ok well not the whole audience! 😛) but give him some credit. i especially thought the moral of the story was great. the whole how u have to keep on breathing because you never know what the tide will bring in. gosh, i just know that when something horrible happens in your life...and u have no reason to live anymore..u should keep going because u never know when something equally as great could happen to u and totally change your outlook on life. well anyways, i found the movie totaly touching but i can understand if some were bored. that's my two cents!. btw, i also saw miss congeniality. very funny stuff. 🙂

I think Cast Away is kinda ok, but just the island part.
Or maybe it is just me who can't decipher the meaning of the film.
what's the meaning of the angel wings ? and why hanks keep the angel wing package intact ?
What's the content ?
