I've heard that Cadillac seats are nice, but im 23 and dont feel like driving a car designed for 70 year olds.....

I drive roughly 100 miles round trip to school everyday, and need something to be comfortable for the long commute. I already have some back problems and since im in the market for a car, might as well look at some that wont exacerbate the condition.....

an old caddy or an old pontiac. (You don't find something that looks good with comfortable seats.)

Honestly? The Passat is a great long distance hauler. For what it's worth, my Mazda 3 was also quite comfortable for my 1800 mile drive between IA and AZ. It's also quite nice for my regular 700 mile round trips between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

I have a passat (you knew that, right? :))

I find it very hard to find a comfortable position for drives over 30 miles. I've gone to my wits end adjusting the seat, lumbar, height, wheel, and middle arm rest to make it comfortable. Yet, my back still aches for long hauls and my arms/legs go numb :(

As for the Caddy's, if you have a $30,000 budget, you can get into a CTS. If you look at used they'll be about $7,000-$10,000 less. Most car mags have very good things to say about the CTS seats. Milage isn't a shining point.

I road about 16 hours in an '04 Lexus ES300 and the seats in there are very cozy too.

Many Toyotas that I've driven have had very comfortable seats. Check out a few Toyotas, see how they feel to you. I've also liked the seats in the 3 most recent Civic generations.

Those are just suggestions though. You basically need to try to get comfortable in as many different cars as you can, and decide for yourself.

BTW, I'm 5'10, medium-muscular build, about 190 lbs.

how tall are you and how much do you weigh?

i drive my fathers audi A6 a lot and it took me a while to find a confirtable seat setting. the lumbar is the biggest thing in the comfort factor. Also, i've found that taking my wallet out of my back pocket makes it much more comfortable to drive long disatances. I tend to sit staight and not slouched (sitting slouched streaches the lumabr area muscles over time and that what may you be feeling as fatigue).

Then I recommend getting a used Toyota Avalon (98 is what I drive). Super smooth ride (I regularly drive 200 miles) and a great commuter. Doesn't look bad in black, and it won't break the bank.

I love Japenese/German cars and I would probably never buy any Domestic car (I'll buy their trucks for sure) but domestic cars are comfortable! Foreign can't even come close to how comfortable Caddys/Lincolns are. I remember we used to take long trips driving from VA to Florida and the Lincoln we rented was amazing and this was like 1993. The front seat had massagers built in. I'm sure the newer ones are even better.

However if you don't want domestic.. Toyota Avalon is a sleeper car in that I mean you'll fall asleep driving it.

Don't get a Saturn, thats for sure.

My 1997 SC2 hurts my back after an hour or so of driving. But its fine for shorter trips.

Odd, I find that my 2001 SL1 is extremely comfortable. However, my gf has a 97 SC2, and I agree, those seats are hell. It's uncomfortable for me as soon as I get in. The seats are just too sculpted.

I would say that my Bonneville was very comfortable, but you said you don't want an old fogey's car, so nevermind :)

Nissan 350z. Really. I was surprised how comfortable those seats were.

I don't find the passat very comfortable. Hondas tend to hurt my back as well.

Just giving the idea, but you could always buy the seats and put them in your current car, that way you won't need to buy a whole new car for the nice seats

I drive about 100 to 150 miles a day myself and i LOVE my Olds Intrigue. shoot with the resale on this car what it is today, you could probably keep your Passat and buy yourself an Intrigue just for long commutes.

btw, it's a pretty decent looking car also.
