Carry cash?

I've never been mugged, and do not know anyone personally who has been mugged. I used to carry quite a bit of cash, because I had no problem with it burning a hole in my wallet, so to speak.
It always irritated me when I'd have to stop for friends to hit their cash machine before going out to dinner. They could not carry any extra money with them, because they'd just blow it.

If I can, I usually like to have $20 or so. Usually a ten, a five, and some ones. Sometimes, it's more, sometimes it's less. But I always have at least ten bucks cash on me. I use my credit card most of the time, but if I'm out somewhere and decide to get dinner or whatever, it's nice to have the cash and not have to worry about finding an ATM or borrowing money from my friends.

I like to have a $20 bill, a $10 bill, a $5 bill and at least six $1 bills.

I don't carry cash, why bother when every store I shop at takes debit/credit card? Any store that doesn't accept either of those doesn't deserve my business in my opinion.

I usually have around $100 bucks in my wallet even though I use debit card for majority of transactions.

This thread reminds me of a incident where a little kid must have been 11-12 asked for our money and he was gripping something under his shirt... Me and my friend were 14 (prob had like $2 total on us...)? and towered over him by at least a foot lol. Anyways we figure he was joking and laughed... this prob pissed him off, he then uncover his hand and revels a little blade about 6"(at least it wasnt a gun ) This didn't bother us until, we see a group of older guys crossing the street heading our way... well we were like oh sh*%... then something strange happen one of the guys headed our way grab the kid and he said sorry WHAT THE? hahahahaha. STrug.

It's sad, but I charge almost everything now - even <$10 worth! I almost never have more than a few dollars on me. Why? Well, if I have cash in my wallet, I usually find something to spend it on - a candy bar, a pop, etc. And by charging everything, I get a much better record of where my money goes, since I download all my CC transactions into Quicken. Stuff I pay for by hand (and thus usually have little- or no record of, except a receipt that's easily discarded) usually doesn't get logged, and so that's money that just "vanishes".

And as long as you pay off your CC every month, you don't get hit with interest charges! Hopefully I'll get mine paid off again in a month or two

I rarely carry cash. If I do, I usually have a $10 bill on me and that's pretty much it. It's a lot easier to use my debit card.

I charge alot of stuff too.. $20 and up i'd say.
I just pay twice a month to Visa and all is good.

i've got way too much cash accumulated right now from selling things and x-mas, but i always like to make sure i have at least a good array of bills of varying sizes to pay tolls and tips and things. I always tip my servers in cash even if i charge the meal because if you charge the tip, they have to pay taxes on it (and sometimes the resturant will force them to put it in a communal pool for everyone else). I like my money (all of it) to go to the person I intended it to.

Why would you want to charge a $2 drink?
besides the cc fees you have to pay would not make charging $2 worth it.

I gave him my debit card. It has a Visa logo, so it's accepted everywhere Visa is accepted. It comes right out of my checking account, like cash. I get charged no fees for using it. I use it to buy 25¢ gum. I'd rather use it and pay $2 for the drink, than take out cash $20 at a time. It's good as cash to me.

I used to have a friend that would carry a fake wallet along with his real one...just incase he got mugged so he wouldn't lose all his real stuff.

Not really concerned about getting mugged here, but I usually carry at least 20 bucks in cash, for those little purchases of food or miscellaneous items. And so I don't look broke if someone's looking through my wallet
