Car wreck

I got in an accident that wasn't my fault a couple weeks ago. I was in a '89 Acura Integra which took bumper, quarter-panel, and hood damage.

The real problem is that the guys insurance company wants to total it and the claim adjuster told me he's give me $2300 for it. I told him hell no! I checked and the blue book value from www.kbb.com is at least $4200. The guy told me they don't use the blue book! I figure it's pretty much the bible of used car values right?

Now the guy is looking through classifieds trying to find me a similar car. He's supposed to call me tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do with this guy, I would like to have them just give me the blue book value.

Nope most industry people use teh NADA orange book. They probably will try to low ball you, get a quote from kbb, go to the book store and buy a copy of the nada orange book, look in the classifieds for similarly priced cars and the two of you will have to come to an agreement. They won't just give you the blue book value.

I think he is trying to rip you off.. but still the blue book value is for cars that run..
try settting the blue book value for the car with teh damage.. and it probably will show up with that range...

still I think he is pulling you..

do one thing call your broker (if you got one) and ask him what he thinks, if not your insurance company..

After all they arent paying for it (assuming they are not the same company).. they would be glad to help.

Insurance companies rip you off. My buddy just wrecked his 73 dodge dart because some fedex driver ran a stop sign and hit him. It was a california car that was stored winters - total cherry. It wasn't hit THAT bad, but I guarantee the're gonna say that it's totalled and won't give him crap for it.

Just call him and say, "I think thats an unfair offer, I think I better call insert name of local famous ambulance chasing lawyer to help me protect my interests." If you dont get a good offer, then call the lawyers for real.

The car actually still runs fine. Part of the bumper is just rubbing up against the one tire. I guess there's some possibilty of keeping it and and figuring that into the settlement, I'm not sure if that helps or not.

My insurance company is no help. I only have liability and they're just happy that I wasn't at fault.
