Car Tailgates Cyclist - Car Gets Pulled Over

I'm basically a "road warrior"(mobile employee), I can safely say that auto operators are the most disrespectful, arrogant, and dangerous bunch of idiots I've seen. Completely self absorbed and unaware in many cases.
And you'd be right, I have personally witnessed many instances where I think the driver should be stripped of the driving privilege. And in cases like those, you don't see auto drivers defending those idiots as you see the fervent supports, I'd say cult-like, from a cyclist to another.

I figured I'd comment that the cyclist should have been clubbed. Didn't watch the video, but the guy was on a bike, so he was in the wrong. I don't care how expensive your bikes, how stretchy your spandex is, or how precise your hand signals are; it doesn't change the fact you're riding a toy on a road where cars drive. Also, there is a 90% chance you're a pretentious twat about riding bikes as well. Yeah, I used to be a "cyclist" too; and then I turned 16 and learned to drive an adult vehicle.

Exactly. All drivers are adults and all cyclists are kids.

Never witnessed a fender bender gone awry, eh? 🙂

Cyclists often get on the defensive because auto operators tend to be arrogant cunts. Thinking they own the road even when cyclists, such as in the OP, adhere to the rules (no, 32 in a 30 shouldn't get a ticket either 😛 )

I don't know man, I get ”arrogant cunts” and ”own the road” vibes out of cyclists more than drivers. But here in SF, everybody think they own the road anyways, so they're all arrogant cunts.

What are we taking about now?

A driver's view: Get on the sidewalk!

who pretends they own the road again?

Butch, here's your problem - you're taking this way too personally and you're letting emotions affecting your judgment. Try this, relax, take a deep breath and look at this whole thing subjectively.

First of all, I don't own an SUV, and I'm not involved in this incident, just like you're not. Still with me? Good. Now, I pointed out why all three idiots involved in that video are just that, idiots. All of them. Do we have an accord? Good. Anyone that think they can win an argument against a 4 thousand pounds car is obviously an idiot, I don't care who's in the right. If you think your bubble of entitlement will save you from crushing death, I got news for you. Even if you ”win” that argument, you're not really winning, would you? I get it that you want nothing else on the road and that cyclists always have the right of way, including running down pedestrians, running stop lights, and stop signs. But dude, people need to get to places as well using different modes of transportation. They're not just out there gallivanting.

You see, I looked at the video with an unbiased view and judged based on what I see. And I saw that they're all idiots. You're just foaming at anything you think not supporting your narratives, e.g confirmation bias.

Now let's move on to your raging issue... Oh my, look at the time, I can continue, but it will cost you...

I'm not taking anything personally, your the one who keeps on insisting that somehow the cyclist in the video is in the wrong for (gasp!) riding his bike at 31 MPH because he was in fear for his life. Now, let's move on to what I've said and not said, hmm, don't recall ever saying that a cyclist can "do no wrong" and are entitled to "run pedestrians over", fact is, inconsiderate assholes can be found using all modes of transportation, in this incident the SUV driver was clearly in the wrong, this is evidenced by the fact he was given a ticket by the cop for following too closely and endangering the cyclist, a five year old can figure this one out but keep posting, I have no "rage" whatsoever and am thoroughly enjoying you self-implode as the village idiot, thanks for the free entertainment!.. 😀

The problem, I think, comes down to the definition of ”share”.

With the cyclists that I have encountered, share to them means ”oh, you're walking on the crosswalk? Not after I run this red light really quick”; or ”you better not crossing that road at the stop sign because I'm blowing it, damn pedestrian”; or ”there's a perfectly good bike path 15' away, but im going to take my time on this here two-lane road because I'm entitled, damn it!”; or ”the sidewalk is big enough for me to ride on, you need to share the sidewalk, too”... I guess we're just arguing semantics...

Oh, the bicyclist coalition was even successful in creating bike lanes, where no cars can drive on, and bike buffer zones on already narrow SF streets. Some pretty funny ways of ”sharing”, don't you think?

Blowing through stop lights and breaking the law is not what real cyclists are about, but I would expect cyclists to roll through stopsigns (not traffic signals) as much as cars do

are there lanes next to the bike lanes? if so then you got no legitimate gripe. if they took out all lanes for bike lanes then you have a legitimate gripe

k over it now.

Wait, so taking away a car lane on a street to create a bike lane is sharing? I hope you're paying registration fees for that bike of yours. What do you mean you're not?

And no, not rolling through a stop sign, but not even attempting to slow down for the stop signs.

Ooooo, another bike thread???

My turn:

A cyclist's view: I OWN THE ROAD!!!1

My 3500lb vehicles view: ...whatever you say sparky.

Why do I care who pretends they own the road again?

reference: every fucking douchebag on a bike...ever.

case in point, elitist driver who thinks they own the road because they have a bigger vehicle. that's most certainly how they drive in Mumbai.

How am I biased when I said they're all idiots?

Wait, so taking away a car lane on a street to create a bike lane is sharing?

seriously? um yes, now the road is being shared between bicyclists and drivers. here is a portion of the road for you bicyclists, and here is a lane for you drivers - now the road is shared. if i had to live in a room with another person, like in a college dorm - we each have our personal space that the other respects and doesn't infringe on, but we are still sharing the room.

how hard is that to get. if you have trouble with that basic concept you are too far gone for logic to work.
