I thought most garages waive the diagnostic fee if you pay them to do the repair?

QFT. Find a new mechanic.

Dealerships are the biggest waste of money ever. The Mazda one here calls you up when it's time for your "inspections", which are basically checkups that Mazda recommends you get. The last one was at like 40k miles, it was just a long list of things they looked at, the only real work they did was flushing the transmission fluid. It was $480 for them to "inspect" the tires and the brakes and the belts and all that jazz. They didn't even wash the car like they're supposed to because their hose was broken or something . We asked if we could go back the next day for the car wash and they said no, it had to be done that day.

Not a chance in hell we'll be going back there anytime soon, it wasn't even a flat fee for the checkup, they charged by the hour to sit around LOOKING at the car, not even touching it.

Dealerships FTL.

I paid, and left.

Today I get a call that I underpaid by $100 due to a clerical error on his part. On my bill they rolled the diagnostic fee into the work when they should have charged me for it.

What do you think?
I think they screwed you and got another $100 out of you. The item was on the invoice, and the invoice was paid.

If something was signed saying its paid and done id tell em to screw off.

But since they technically "did" work, they could just draw up a seperate bill and send it to me.

I just called and paid, as the second posted said, other than that the dealership was great and I'd want to use em again.

Weak. They screwed up and should have to eat it.

Do you think for 1 second that they would have notified you if you had overpaid by $100?

No, but I'll bet if he did over pay and called to ask for it back, they would give it to him.

I read about 1/4 through and as I'm sure many others have already said...

if you're talking that car back to that same dealership for future work, then I would just pay. sounds like both parties were nice to each other...and think about all kinds of werid charges you would get on your next trip if you don't pay...

don't mess with your mechanic
