wtf is up with you people giving him advice to shoot other people's pets... ?!
1. pellet gun IS a firearm
2. Shooting cats (or dogs) = felony in many states.
3. Why don't you quit being a fvcktard and just resort to a simple solution such as tossing some mothballs under the shed.
Personally, I think nothing of shooting a deer for food... but I consider someone with your attitude toward shooting animals to be nothing less than pathetic.

The cats are probably the reason you don't have skunks and moles in your yard. They will also keep mice and rats out of your shed.
If the cat has a collar, then that cat owns a human and that human will be pissed off if they find out you did something to it. If a cat is living under your shed full time, then it's probably a stray, so it should go to the pound if you can catch it.

It's a cat, are they going to put it on a leash in the backyard? And what are you putting on your cars that cats like walking on it? In my life, i've never seen a cat do such a thing, so what are you doing that it's happening enough that you need to shoot and kill them?

yes you can put a cat on a leash and walk them. cats in the city are INDOOR pets and if you feel that that is not fair then don't own a cat.
second of all cats do like to walk on cars. my cousin had a cat that died because it crawled up into the hood of a car and was inbetween the engine and some other parts (it had a thing for really small spaces). i also frequently find cat prints on my cars.

If the cat has a collar and an owner then why is that cat in my yard/garage/under my shed? The owner is irresponsible and should have no expectation for the safety of said animal if it is not on THEIR property.

I know I don't have the right to discharge a firearm within county limits (Salt Lake County). However, would a really beefy pellet gun count? I say no, and I will have to check my local laws concerning, since a pellet gun isn't TECHNICALLY a firearm (I think at this point...)
At any rate, I'm thinking I have a right to shoot animals that come through my yard and make their home under my shed. I have a problem with neighborhood cats (some may be strays, some I know may have tags). I want to get rid of them just like I would a skunk or ground moles. (I've had both of those, too.)
Any comments? Am I justified in my cause, or am I going to get into trouble? I'm planning on doing it on the sly, obviously. I'm not going to run around my yard with a pellet gun chasing a cat...
