Captain Morgan Black Cask = FTW!

My main alcoholic beverage of choice is rum and coke, and I usually stick to Captain Morgan (regular). I don't like Sailor Jerry or Admiral Nelson, and "pure" rums leave too much alcohol and not enough flavor in my mouth.

I went back to the rum section of the liquor store, surprised to see how many different types of Captain Morgan there actually were (Silver, regular, Black Cask, Private Stock, Tattoo, and maybe a couple others?). I decided upon Black Cask. It's a bit richer/thicker than the traditional Captain, I'm guessing from a bit more molasses? But damn it is good mixed with coke. I want to say it's a bit bolder than traditional Captain.

Aside from that, I really can't describe the flavor other than to say richer, and damn good with coke. Highly recommended :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
 
I hate to tell you this but captain morgan is some terribly shitty rum. They use grain neutral spirits (basically rubbing alcohol). You fell for marketing, sorry.

Heh it tastes good enough. I prefer Silver myself. Though the 100 proof stuff is actually pretty good.

I read that pure grain alcohol has character. I've never had it, but they sell pure grain in Scotland, and in 1 particular region(One of the lowland areas if I remember right), it's the preferred drink. I'd give it a shot if I saw it somewhere.
 
How does it compare to Private Stock? More or less expensive? Taste better/worse/different?

I don't care for the "normal" Captain Morgan, but I am a big fan of the Private Stock. Anyhow I'm always up for trying something new if it's worth it.

I tried private stock and honestly didnt like it. Tasted like Bacardi. Not a fan of Barcardi dark rum. Captain Morgan Spiced, Silver, or that 100 proof stuff is pretty soild imo.
