Caprica Pilot

Anyone else seen it? I thought it was well done. It certainly sets up the series well, and it basically sets up the explanation for why the cylons rebelled, and why they believe in the one true god.

You don't talk about it until it's aired where the majority of the posters live or you will get raped and not the good kind.

Huh, its still going on? The way they made it seem a dvd only release for the pilot I thought it had been cancelled.

I too thought it was pretty well done. I had reservations about the series as I just wanted BSG to ride off into the sunset, but it definitely was better than I expected and raised my hopes. I think sometimes though they try a bit too hard to be "the same, but different" with real-life Earth ya know? Just a few too many little twists and nuances. Those seem to work better for me when they are sprinkled in and not just thrown in everywhere they can be.

Okay I'll bump the thread. Full spoilers allowed now 🙂

As a Vancouverite it was really easy to pick out a lot of the spots they used for filming.

Surprisingly, Caprica shows up on my door last week after being labeled a long wait on Netflix. So I start watching and it seems like a bad B movie. I gave it about 75 minutes, then turned it off. It was completely boring. The acting sucked, the story had potential but was weak. I hope the series is better.

When is rape ever good? 😕

one can argue for men raping by women is never bad, of course depends on the hotness of the woman/women involved, etc

It has been released on DVD over a year before it will be aired.

STFU.

I actually started the thread just before the DVD release...

This.

It was a major disappointment. And this was 2 fans of BSGs opinion who saw it.

Watched it with the GF last night and we both really enjoyed it. Can't wait for it to start.

This was why I think it sucked so hard. Me and the other BSG fan who saw this were talking about how they were trying to turn the series into a sappy soap opera to attract more female viewers.

The only thing good hook in this mess to attract male viewers was the sparse sprinkling of T&A in the holographic visor scenes. And you know those nudie scenes will be MIA from the series on Scy-Why.

I don't mind that they took a different direction on Caprica than they did with BSG. It shows the 12 colonies in the height of their decadence and pride for their planet. They are still retain the "i'm from this colony so blah on you" feel. Hopefully we get to see how the 12 colonies united to defeat a common enemy, ironically one that they invented, the cylons. If the series can do that with out be too soap opera ish like, then more power to them.

As i watched the pilot, i wasn't too impressed. Yeah it different than BSG, which is intentional. I just hope that it still seams like it has a sense of sci fi-ish to it as the series goes and that it does provide the back story of the rise and fall of the colonies.
