Watched it with the GF last night and we both really enjoyed it. Can't wait for it to start.

This was why I think it sucked so hard. Me and the other BSG fan who saw this were talking about how they were trying to turn the series into a sappy soap opera to attract more female viewers.

The only thing good hook in this mess to attract male viewers was the sparse sprinkling of T&A in the holographic visor scenes. And you know those nudie scenes will be MIA from the series on Scy-Why.

But I am a major BSG fan, having watched it from beginning to end. Maybe I like it for different reasons than my GF does, but I disagree with wyvrn's and your assessment.

I thought the acting was pretty solid. Good casting and one couldn't ask for better actors for such a show.

This is no soap opera. One only has to tune into one of the networks during midday to see what a real soap opera is. They're total shite. Talk about bad acting and a horrible story.

I didn't care for the nude scenes at all, and I watch tons of porn. I liked seeing the beginning of Cylons and Graystone wanting to be with his daughter again, no matter what. It was interesting to learn how the first memory/personality/etc download was done.

Why would I commit to a show every major plotpoint of which I already know will be answered with "god did it"? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, um, ah, fool you..., no, wait, it has to be your bull...whatever, I'm not watching it.

If you can get past the first 10 - 15 minutes then it turns into a pretty good pilot. The only thing I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is the time line. So Caprica is supposed to be 58 years before the BSG series? The first Cylon war lasted 40(?) years? So that leaves 18 years for the Cylons to become self aware and rise up against humans? Seems pretty compressed.

Saw this movie over the weekend. I've never seen an episode of BSG, but I find the plot very interesting.

Thought the movie was fantastic. Acting wasn't amazing, but the whole premise sorta blew my mind unexpectedly. I suppose it's time I watch BSG now that I have the history in check?

Suffice to say Caprica makes a lot more sense if you saw BSG first.

I did have a faint idea of what BSG was about. That being said, I was confused for a few pieces during Caprica but didn't mind much.

If I really enjoyed Caprica will I be all over BSG?

I finally got Caprica via Netflix today and while it started out slow I enjoyed it, especially the ending! :Q I can't believe we have to wait 'till 2010 for the series to start! :(

I thought it was rather awful. Bad acting, super predictable story ("I'm a brilliant scientist who can't figure out how to make robots smart, but my 14 year old daughter did it in a matter of months!") and what the hell was with the really lame use of stereotyping to identify peopel from each colony? I get it, Taurons are Italians (well, Sicilians) - no need to beat me over the head with really cheesy lines about "I do a favour for you, you do a favour for me." I'm guessing none of the BSG writers stuck around for this.

I respect your opinion, but disagree; what I found quite interesting was that Glen A. Larson was one of the co-producers! :Q Kinda makes me think of how Lucas wasn't able to make the first 3 episodes of Star Wars because the tech didn't exist at the time. :)
