/JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio - A man is facing charges after a fight at a Fayette County Waffle House left another man dead.
On Sunday, Ross 'Scooter' Sykes (pictured, right) and his fiancee stopped at the restaurant near U.S. Route 35 and Interstate 71, 10TV News reported.
Employees said a group of customers began harassing a waitress after a cash register malfunctioned.
Skyes came to the waitress's defense and was knocked unconscious, 10TV News reported.
"(His fiancee) called me at 4 in the morning and said, 'There's something really wrong with Scooter, he's lying on the ground,'" said Sykes' mother, Karen Cutlip.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jesse Brakeall was charged with one count of felonious assault. He posted bail and was released.
