i don't understand

i deleted the contents of flash when prompted by the router before copying the image. i used sh flash to confirm that there were 8mb free.

I would check the version of your IOS at Cisco's website to see what the Flash Memory and RAM Memory requirements are. I'm guessing one of those are your problem.

some flash devices need to be "squeezed" before you can use the deleted space. The flash gets fragmented when the file is deleted leaving no free space. search for squeeze on www.cisco.com.

problem. the current version of ios that the 2610 is running is 11.3 and it does not support squeezing. i tried squeeze, sqash, twist, rinse&dry but nothing. sqeeze is an unrecognised command and for erase the options are /all, flash, etc....

confirmed.

16 flash, 64 mem for that image. That is the enterprise plus/h323 image (jsx). Enterprise software is extereme overkill for almost all routers.

download a different version/feature set. I think you can get 12.2 IP only on a 8 flash/16 ram 2610.

you can find all of this information on cisco's web site under software center.

fyi, a 2600 is cripped with only 8 meg of flash and 16 of ram...very little you can do with it. I don't even think you can get 12.3 on it. time to upgrade.

Agree with Spidey. Taht image is too big for your router. Might get by with a 12.2.

Better yet, upgrade to an 18XX or even 28XX router. Outstanding product. I'm getting ready to deploy 6 28XX later this year.

yeah, the 2610 is end of sale and has been for some time.

the 2600 series as a whole is on its last leg. the x800 series can do just about anything.

would c2600-is-mz.122-23.bin work on my 2610 with 32mb ram and 16mb flash. all i want to do is set it up as a router on a stick.

You can go to cisco.com and go to "software center", from there you can select the image and view the ram/flash requirments.
