I have to say I would have gone a step further and went in to talk with the principle about it. Teaching kids that pills are fun is a BAD BAD BAD idea, because the next thing you know they're gonna be up in the medicine cabnit tryin to pop down whatever they can get their hands on. And after learning how to pop them out of those kinds of packages it'll be a whole load of different things.

That's just a HORRIBLE idea on the schools part. Someone didn't think this through very well.

This is the kind of stupid thing that the local newspapers should get involved with. Nothing like a good investigative reporter digging into something like this to raise public awareness. With schools everywhere having strong zero-tolerance policies, this seems to be one of the dumbest ideas I've heard of...Take a reporter and photographer with you to confront the principal...

QFT. God knows how many things of candy and wrapping paper I sold in grade school. Corporations know that children under 12 can sell darn near anything at 1000% markup if they give the kid a little toy in exchange for their hours of hard work. I'd rather figure out what portion goes back to the school and make a donation directly to the school in the amount of the highest valued, useless thingy in the catalog.

Wow. That's a pretty poor idea by the school.

The school really shouldn't be teaching kindergarten kids that a) medications are fun, b) how to open medication packets. Additionally, it sends a totally wrong message considering their 'zero tolerance' drug policy.

I think you are perfectly entitled to have written a letter of complaint about that.

No argument there, but everyone b!tches about paying taxes, votes no on school initiatives, then complains about their kids having to sell crap to pay for various things that SHOULD be funded by taxes...

my kids are long grown, yet we are still expected ( by our neighbors) to buy candy bars, cookie dough, and a wide variety of other crap which we have no use for, just to support the local schools...and my wife is a kind person, so she does...this however is just plain stupid...

Wow I sit here kinda speechless, making the kids go out and do "drugs for fun" teach them how to open a pill bottle, and then basicaly teach them how to kinda sell drugs. Red ones a buck and a blue one is two depending on how "high" you wanna get.
I know I would be pissed if my kids came home with something like that, there are much better ways without a "drug" influance to do it. I wonder how pissed some of the homes they go to would be with a kid showing up asking if they would like to buy a pill for "fun".

heck no. if anything he reacted a lot better then i would have. I would have taken them to the school. then depending on how they deal with it i would either go to the papers/news outlets and raise a fuss.

thats just retarded. why are they giving the school kids something like this? thats just insane.

I think I would have taken it to the district superintendant. Screw the principla--I'd go way over his head.
