Heck... I might even stop in at the office the next morning to visit in person.

I will give them some credit though, for trying something other than selling over priced, poor quality, candy and/or wrapping paper.

The beads are pretty small, i don't think they'd represent a choking hazard for the kids but I still wouldn't want them to eat them. I wish I had taken a pic last night, we sent the pill packet back this morning in my daughters backpack with our letter stapled to it. We'll see what the response is. And from talking with other parents that live in our neighborhood we weren't the only ones with concerns.

heck no. if anything he reacted a lot better then i would have. I would have taken them to the school. then depending on how they deal with it i would either go to the papers/news outlets and raise a fuss.

From your description, this sounds like one of the dumbest, and potentially dangerous ideas I've ever heard of. :|

"Rx for fun"?? WTH?? Medicine is not fun, nor should very young children be generally encouraged to think it is. Young children being "poisioned" by medication is real problem. This could possibly lead to one of the kids getting into parents (or grandparents) medication and thats bad.

What does one do with a pill? Swallow it, of course. Why in world would the school give them plastic pills? What if one of them swallows a plastic pill and chokes etc.

This seems so stupid, I'm almost inclined to call "shens"

I don't think someone should be fired over it, but there should definitely be other alternatives to better fundraising. In essence, it is sad that our children even have to do these types of fundraisers for playground equipment. It would be nice if education wasn't so underfunded that it has to put 5-6 year olds to work.

this is what i would have done---take pics of the package, and import it into the letter. then i would have hand carried the letter to the principal (just in case he/she wasn't available to speak with when I stopped in at the school and more or less ask for an appointment with the secretary), then drive over to the school board as well. why the urgency? well, let's see---the package is titled "Rx for fun". HYPOTHETICALLY, of course it depends on the maturity level as well as the family living situation (i.e. single parents, latch key kids), but let's say a 5-year-old (the age of most Kindergarteners) one day decides that the sinus pills in the medicine cabinet is the same one that was "fun"? i don't think i need to continue spelling it out. ideally, that whole fundraising concept needs to be *recalled*...the sooner, the better.
