I went in and they said I could either take the pricematch (which would give me $50 and change back)

or

Take the 64mb cf card (worth like $40 or so)

I took the cash....

thanks again rossman for posting this deal, you rock

Smart move, there's always Hot Deals on CF and besides I'd prefer 128MB vs 64MB CF anyway. 64MB is a lot larger than 8MB but the next big leap is to 128MB.

Congrats on your purchase!

Did the deal B&M yesterday evening. Took in a printout of Extreme digital at @$252 and the 50 off 250 coupon. After a sob story of wanting to do it online but no stock online anymore, he let me pricematch and coupon instore but no capture card. Felt it was a decent trade-off since online they would have probably charged me next day shipping.

I know, to be a true hot dealer, I should have pushed for the card too...but I took it and ran. :) 202+tax out the door. Century III Office max in Pittsburgh has no more in stock now.

Hope you guys get it to work better than me. :D

Same deal, just at a competitor since OM no longer has it online:
OfficeDepot has it for $299.99 and there's a OD coupon $50 off $250 (can be found at the heavy billfold site).
$299.99 + tax

- $5.00 ebates @ 2%
______
$245 shipped free or in store pickup w/ the potential of a possible PM

<edit>OD deal is now dead too, OOS.</edit>

You mean like the ones Rossman lists at the begining of this thread;)? All the reviews are from digital photography websites, also cnet also does editor's picks (they have the A40 at #1 for 2 mp cameras). Look around the A40 is one of the best 2 mp cameras available. It's a steal at $250 or less.

Can anyone with this camera offer me some advice on how to take a close picture of the face of a wrist watch (analog, not digital)? I'm trying to help a friend sell his watch on Ebay and want to get a good close up picture of the face, but all my pics come out blurry. I've tried playing around with the settings, but couldn't get a decent pic. If any of you can try this and can get a good pic, please let me know how.

Another question I have is how do you download the pics to your computer without using ZoomBrowser? Ideally I'd like to see the camera contents in Windows Explorer and just copy and paste them to a directory on my hard drive.

BTW, I finally got my 128MB card this week after placing the order on 8/1. It was worth the wait though! Total cost for the Canon A40 and Lexar 128MB CF was $299 - $50 coupon - $35 PM + $21 tax = $235.

iluvdeal - If you're using Windows XP as your OS then read this (applies to most digicams and both SM/CF media).

Turn computer on
Turn off digicam
Connect USB cable (which came with the Canon A40) to the digicam and into your PC's USB port
Turn on digicam or go to Start -> Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras

CLKisCooL - FW has the $50 off $250 OfficeMax.com coupon.

Unfortunately OfficeMax B&M's only price match local B&M office supply chain stores not .com websites.

IF OfficeMax.com had the Canon A40 in stock then you could buy it online and pricematch it against a .com website. However they do not so you cannot PM.

Thanks RossMan!!!! Just got my Camara (A40) with 64 meg CF. It was $262 - $26 for Pricematch to the website. Came out to $236 for the A40 and 64 meg CF.
I read the manual yesterday and played with the camara all day. This is one sweet camara. Especially for this price.
Thanks again,
Oren

THere is an auto focus fix for this camera listed at the Canon website. You may want to see if yours needs the fix.

I ordered my camera from OfficeMax on Aug 3 and I have yet to even hear an update from them on the status. Last I checked yesterday the camera was still on Backorder nearly 1.5 months later. Anyone else still waiting to receive their camera or am I just unlucky?
