I got mine today. Great camera for the price. My wife will enjoy it. It ended up being a very happy birthday for her. Thanks guys. Ape Out.

Rossman:
I missed out on this also. They have this at Harmony computers for 265 shipped no tax UPS ground, I called them and it has a US warranty. Crutchfield also has it for 299 and you can use a 25 off 250 if you're a new customer. I think Crutchfield charges 10.99 shipping and it's 3 day Fedex (not positive). Crutchfields ratings are nearly impeccable (9.4/10 on Bizrate). Shopharmony.com has a 8.4/10 on Bizrate.
For me, the Harmony purchase is cheaper than OM because of the CA sales tax. It's around 269-270.
They also have a factory refurb 995 Coolpix for 399 free shipping at Harmony which looks good too.

esquared - Thanks for the post. Unfortunately I've been really torn between which digicam to buy I went from the Canon PowerShot S200 to the Fuji Finepix 2600 to the Nikon Coolpix 775 but recently read a review about the Canon A40 which almost seems like the PERFECT digicam for me. Since I live in Oregon which has no sales tax that's not an issue for me. I think I'll wait and hope that OM gets the A40 back in stock before 7/15 when one of the $50 off $250 coupons expires. It would have been SUPER hot if I got in on this deal esp with FREE 64MB CF, eBates.com 2% (or is it still 4%?) and FREE ground shipping.

No point in crying over spilt milk. Have a look here - you can get it for $266 delivered.

I think if you order anything from the stores having very low prices from the pricegrabber, they will not ship immediately because they want to sell it with some very expensive accessories. If you don't buy any of those, they will not sell it.

That's my experience.

Yeah, you're probably right about that. But those user ratings must count for something?

alright the deal on these is that they are out of stock are some stores where they ship from so instead they are shipping directly from the delivery center in TX via UPS ground :disgust: and I thought I was getting free Next Day delivery...dang...would've been useful for tomorrow, oh well.

Yeah I wish I could've had it for this weekend, would've been able to use it for a couple of things. Mine ended up shipping out from some place in Washington state, with an expected delivery date of Monday June 10th.

There may be a slim chance I could get it today, if UPS delivers ground on Saturdays. It left in transit for my city at 3am this morning from not too far away. Probably wishful thinking on my part though.

My PM got borked too. :disgust: This is the reply email I got:

Dear OfficeMax.com Customer:

Thank you for your recent inquiry. Unfortunately I am unable to locate that
item on the website at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this

Blah and all you have to do is type 'a40' into their search box and the camera shows up. Anyway I'm gonna try resubmitting a PM request and hope I get Anita to handle it, since people seem to be having better luck with her.

I tried to PM with here.

You e-mailed that exact same URL to OM, right? What do they mean they can't find this product? It shows up when you click that link.

I'd write a scathing but still professional and courtesy e-mail to them demanding that they get their head out of their ass or call them up and bitch them out or do both.

I played around with this digicam at an OfficeMax B&M this afternoon while having a Clifford Matrix 2 car alarm installed into my new Honda Accord SE.

I liked the digicam A LOT, very few complaints. It's a very nice size, zoom worked great, lots of quality features.

This camera takes pictures that rival 3+ megapixel cameras. I tried 10+ other digicams before buying an A40. We just got back from a short 5 day vacation and I took over 200 pictures on one set of generic AA batteries, and they are not completely used up. The photo colors are vivid and true and the clarity is amazing. Just set the camera dial to Automatic and it is almost impossible to take a bad picture.

Just did the deal from Crutchfield for 285 shipped. Cost 15 more for me than OM but they've been OOS. shopharmony.com has it for 265 shipped but Crutchfield's record is top notch. It's worth 20 for me to get it before next weekend plus not having to worry about any incidentals and no pesky phone calls about buying extras. Their Bizrate rating is 9.4/10.

digital e-tailer is where I PMed successfully too. You ought to be able to get it (Though I think it's better PMing to Harmony, the link to which someone posted earlier... If I'd had that one when I ordered, I would have Pmed them, simply because the free shipping eliminates that variable)

In any case, very happy with my A40 so far. Pity I don't have anything interesting to take pictures of...

I PMed with CompDirect.com, and much to my surprise they accepted it the day I submitted it (the Staples PM fell through, thank god 😉). CompDirect.com and CameraTopia.com seem to be the kings of bait-and-switch, so I thought the price listed would not be applicable. I was also surprised to find that OfficeMax.com only considered $18.45 for shipping, the next day for CompDirect.com is something like $45 (I had to phone to find this out). So my new C-3020 is in my hands, the payment minus the $50 coupon went through, and the PM credit for $137.53 has also gone through. Final price: $334.95 including tax and next day shipping. I think I'll be using the OfficeMax PM more in the future. 😀 The only problem I can see it is that this camera uses SmartMedia, but I probably will never need a card bigger than 128 MB. It's not an A40, but I like it. 😉

Got my A40 today! I really like it so far. The pictures I've taken with just the auto mode have been pretty good, it grips just about perfectly in my hand, and it's not too bulky/heavy nor tiny/fragile-feeling.

Now I'm just waiting for a 256MB Viking CF from Amazon ($94.99 shipped), and a Maha C204F kit from Thomas Distributing.

No response yet from my 2nd PM attempt.

I probably could've done a little better by PMing with some other sites that have a lower total after shipping is included, but since people have already had success with digital e-tailer I didn't want to take any chances. Thanks Anita. 😀
