Someday I will want to replace my 20D, but not soon. It has the resolution, flexibility and low noise I want in a camera. I love shooting in RAW, and I can do that nicely, thank you.
I have a 20D too but I have both the 17-85IS and the 10-22 ef-s lenses. IMO, you are missing out on a lot by not taking advantage of your cameras ability to mount those lenses. Canon seems to be taking a 1.6x=consumer and FF=professional approach. FF is not coming down to the sub 1K price-point any time too soon. EF-S lenses will hold their value well enough. If I wanted to purchase the 5D when it became available, I could easily sell my ef-s lenses for nearly what I paid for them. This should continue to be the case in the foreseeable future.
I had the 28-135IS w/ my 10D and sold it for the 17-85IS when I upgraded to a 20D. The 17-85IS is a much better walk-around lens while the 10-22 provides real ultra-wa shooting on a 1.6x crop body. I'd seriously reconsider not buying ef-s lenses considering it is one of the advantages of your camera body.
..although the 24-105L IS does seem pretty, depending on the price.
Of all the lenses, the 10-22 is the most appealing, but I went with the 17-40L. If in the future I need a superwide, I will probably go with a Russian fisheye. Not rectilinear, but still fun I think.
The major advantage I see for this camera isnt the sexy MP count, but the potential for lower noise. Even that isn't enough to sway me, because I shot some interior pics with the 20D at ISO 3200 and processed through Neat Image. They came out quite clean. So what would really be an advantage for me? the ability to go out in bad weather, where a lot of great pics can be taken without worrying about the camera. That is distinctly lacking here.
