Canned Corned Beef?

No Lifer
I just fried up a tin of canned corned beef, and I'm not impressed. It looks like dog food, smells like dog food, and tastes like something... Whatever that something is isn't particularly good. Do any of you use this stuff? If so, how?

Corned beef hash?

If so scramble some eggs and toast some bread.. scoop up the hash and eggs with the toast.

I think it's maybe too much for what I was trying to do with it. I was kind of hungry, and saw that in the cabinet. It might tastes better in smaller portions. Just eating fried slabs I didn't really dig. My can of potatoes was pretty good though :^D

Some canned corned beef hash is alright. You just have to try different brands. Making your own is always the best but, takes time and planning of menus.

You guys eating it with rice... Are you making a kind of fried rice, or perhaps frying up the beef and putting it on white rice?

I was gonna toss it. I'll keep it, and try it with rice. If it doesn't work, I like rice plain too :^)

I'm assuming we're talking about corned beef hash here? Make sure you fry it to an absolute crisp if you're using canned. Tastes way better. I'd also suggest frying an egg or two on top of it, and hot sauce certainly doesn't hurt.

it's definitely different from the sliced stuff you get in the deli, so if you were expecting that, you're SOL.

fry it with some onions and potatoes.

I love corned beef with rice.

this
is so tasty

you can conjure a corned beef dish that works well along with chinese food.

you don't eat corn beef plain unless its the nicer kind that isn't canned. you know the slabby kind ...shaped like meat😛 canned beef is like canned corn, you don't eat it out of the tin and act disappointed, its an ingredient.

I don't know about you but I could devour canned corn all day 😛 I fucking love corn, I don't know why. In any dish, if there's corn in it my approval rating goes up by 2 automatically.

lol

I bet you shit a lot of corn

We use shredded cabbage, half an onion (or more if you're inclined), 3 cloves of garlic, and one can of corned beef. First fry the onion and garlic with a little oil, then throw in the cabbage and sautee until soft and wilted. After that, throw in the beef and fry around for10-15 mins on medium heat. Chuck in some red chillies if you're not a wuss. 😛

Serve with white rice and enjoy!

Corned beef is awful.

I accidentally got a corned beef brisket one time when I meant to get a regular beef brisket. I wasn't really paying attention. The house smelled incredible like brisket all day while it cooked. Then I got it out and took a bite. :Barf:

err, I thought corned beef brisket would be in the cold cut section and the beef brisket would be in the meat section...
