She obviously feels safe and smug, targeting the 98% in her campaign message.

Only evenly-distributed diversity and proportionately consequent intermarriage will ever resolve this sort of racialist naivete.

That assumes that the 98% are automatically as racist as she, not a good thing to claim.

Only due to Trump being POTUS are outright highly bigoted and racists people are coming out of the woodwork en mass. And yes such folks do tend to assume that nearly every white person actually agrees with them.

Oh come on. Revisionist history. It wasn't long ago David Duke was running for president. This lady seems to be running for some small local office and seems more clueless, ignorant, and indoctrinated than a malicious white supremacist.

What do you call institutionalized policy that holds some people back based on their race or sex and promotes others forward as long as they're a different race or sex? You lefties are hypocrites. You're not fighting for equality anymore, we've achieved that, now you fight for privilege.
Not quite the same as a system promoting people already being held back. Trying a little hard to be clever.

MARYSVILLE, Mich. (AP) — A city council candidate in Michigan shocked a public forum when she said she wants to keep "Marysville a white community as much as possible."
Jean Cramer made the comment Thursday in response to a question about diversity in Marysville, a city in St. Clair County, 55 miles (88 kilometers) northeast of Detroit. The Times Herald in Port Huron says she's one of five candidates running for three council seats in November.
After the forum, Cramer told the newspaper that she's not "against blacks" but believes married couples "need to be the same race."
Mayor Dan Damman, who isn't running for re-election, says Cramer's comments were "vile" and "jaw-dropping." Council member Paul Wessel says Marysville is open to anyone who arrives in the city.
Republicans letting the cat out of the bag again about themselves. Can anyone honestly say they are surprised by this?

I’m going to fill you in on an uncomfortable truth. When the manager you interviewed with picks someone else, you confront them, and they say they totally would have picked you but they had to pick the other person because they were a minority what they are actually doing is trying to assuage your ego so you won’t make a scene.

It’s like when a couple breaks up and the woman says, “It’s not you, it’s me.” It’s totally him but she’s afraid of a negative emotional or physical reaction so she takes the blame to assuage his ego.

Now that was poor management on his part. He should have told you where you were weak so you could have worked on those areas for the next time.

Instead you developed a huge victim complex. 🙁

Fundie nut christian dominionist alert. She specifically cited "the bible" in her elaboration on why interracial marriage was wrong.

Another worthless republican racist who has no business being in office for anything. Go to your Hell woman.
Is that the same bible that says Moses married a black woman and how God punished those that were offended by it?

Numbers 12:1-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman. They said, “Has the LORD spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the LORD heard them. (Now Moses was very humble—more humble than any other person on earth.) So immediately the LORD called to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and said, “Go out to the Tabernacle, all three of you!” So the three of them went to the Tabernacle.

Then the LORD descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle. “Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward. And the LORD said to them, “Now listen to what I say: “If there were prophets among you, I, the LORD, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams. But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust. I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the LORD as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”

The LORD was very angry with them, and he departed. As the cloud moved from above the Tabernacle, there stood Miriam, her skin as white as snow from leprosy. When Aaron saw what had happened to her, he cried out to Moses, “Oh, my master! Please don’t punish us for this sin we have so foolishly committed. Don’t let her be like a stillborn baby, already decayed at birth.” So Moses cried out to the LORD, “O God, I beg you, please heal her!”

But the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had done nothing more than spit in her face, wouldn’t she be defiled for seven days? So keep her outside the camp for seven days, and after that she may be accepted back.” So Miriam was kept outside the camp for seven days, and the people waited until she was brought back before they traveled again. Then they left Hazeroth and camped in the wilderness of Paran.

Not quite the same as a system promoting people already being held back. Trying a little hard to be clever.

But no one else is being held back, at least not systematically. Don't blame not putting the effort in, not making responsible personal decisions on racism. That's a lazy and dishonest way out.

As always the real racism isn’t that black people with the same qualifications get called for interviews less often than white people. The real racism is recognizing it and attempting to do something about it.

Apparently the best combination of gender and ethnicity to be is a black woman as you get all the perks! This may come as a surprise to all the people who are, you know, black women.

You’ve already been shown substantial empirical evidence that they in fact are being held back, you just decided it magically didn’t count.

If you want to lie to yourself and pretend that systemic discrimination doesn’t exist that’s fine. This is America and you’re free to believe any nonsense you want. What you can’t expect is for us to lie to ourselves too just for the sake of your feelings.

This reminds me of that thread on criminal justice where Slow declared that there was no racial bias in sentencing, based on nothing. Then when shown empirical evidence that there was he immediately demanded that in order to prove bias literally every arrest in America had to be examined down to the tiniest detail.

So what’s the evidentiary requirement for the conclusion he likes? Nothing. What’s the requirement for the conclusion he dislikes? Details on every arrest ever. Why? Because he isn’t interested in facts, he’s protecting his feelings.

What evidence? What I've seen so far is a bs "study" that showed black names get called back less than white sounding names. Yet, in that same study some black names got called back up to 3x as much as some white sounding names. All it showed is that the truth is that it is fairly random.

None of you ever answer, if someone puts in the effort and makes responsible decisions, what stops them from achieving? If one breaks the law, doesn't respect authority, has kids they cannot afford early on in life, doesn't put effort in to improve themselves and make themselves valuable in the work place, then that isn't a race issue. So tell me, let me ask you, if someone makes smart decisions and puts effort in, what is stopping them from achieving?

Republicans are enacting policies that disenfranchise people of color at the voting booth. That has been proven in multiple court cases.

That’s not what it showed at all and you know it. This is a good example of what I was saying though where you are forced to lie to yourself and others about what the evidence says because you can’t emotionally handle reality.

That’s because this is a very dumb question.

Racial equality means if two people have the same ability and put in the same amount of work they should achieve similar results on average. They do not and this is obvious to everyone with a brain.

Jesus, watching the video and actually hearing her speak these words versus just reading the context is a night and day difference.

I can't wait until these old people all die out and the racism that goes with them is gone too. I hope the younger generation aren't being taught to act like these old fogies.

Ms Cramer was born ~1951. The Civil Rights movement has been a part of her world for her entire life. Age is not an excuse. This dream of a bright, racism-free future that will come about when the older generation die off has been around since at least the 1970s. Generations have gone into the grave since then yet here we are. We can't outlive racism but we can tell racists that their crap ain't welcome. Most of the folks showing up at white supremacist rallies and a lot of the folks showing up at Trump rallies are young enough that their parents and sometimes their grandparents are too old to use age as an excuse for racism.

I posted a scientific consensus forming meta analysis confirming, without any remaining doubt, that there is a 36% hiring handicap for blacks in America based solely on the color of their skin.

Here is is again:

You're a science denialist. And in this case, a racist. Denial of obvious racism is an act of racism.

Your racism goes deeper. Your denial of institutionalized racism exists so you can blame minorities for their own problems and feel a superiority from that.

To admit it exists would mean they are in the situations they're in mainly because of oppression, and not some lack of morality or intelligence or both. You NEED to believe it is because they are inherently "lazy and dishonest."

And you cannot bring yourself to admit that is is because of systemic racism so... racist.

So you do admit that not everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed if they just apply themselves and make good decisions??? At least that is what it appears that you are saying! You can`t have it both way!
