I just cancelled Age of Conan. I really wanted this game to be good, but it's so unpolished it's almost a stretch to say it's beta. I might give it another look when it's out of beta in 4 months or so, if it still exists.

The straw that broke the camel's back was the patch that broke the ability to change your hotkeys. Have they even fixed that yet? I think I waited a week and a half, logged in, saw it was still broken and made my mind up then I was done. Seriously...there's no reason a new bug as game-breaking as that can't be hotfixed, especially after 10+ days.

Anyone else go back to WoW after giving AoC a shot?

I never try upstarts at release. I might try AoC sometime this winter. I quit WoW, but not for another MMO.

I logged off with 11% melee invulnerabilities and logged on 5 min ago with 3%. My defense has been nerfed every patch since I started playing. It was pretty fun until about level 70 or so. So that's a solid month's entertainment. But it falls apart the second you start to care about game mechanics, or gear, or pvp, or raiding, or crafting.

AoC is a social experiment by FunCom to see how fast they can get rid of customers patch by patch.

#1 rule about new MMO's - avoid them until about 6 months after release - by that time, *most* of the bugs have been worked out.

Sad to see you went back to the k1dd13-pvp-arena-f3st that WoW has become.

AOC will be around for quite sometime. Look at Tabula Rasa and SWG - both MMO's are still on life support! :)

According to the CEO of Blizz, you are not the only one:

Wrath of the Lich King to be Released in 2008

Shacknews reported that according to Mike Morhaime (Blizzard Entertainment's CEO), Wrath of the Lich King will be released between October and December 2008. "We have said that it will be coming out this year," Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime revealed in a conference call today. "I can tell you it's not coming in the July to September quarter." As for the Wrath of the Lich King beta, Morhaime noted that "testing is going very well." During the call, Morhaime also mentioned that 40% of the World of Warcraft subscribers that left for Age of Conan have since returned.

The expansion isn't even out yet.

its always teh same the anti-wow jump ship and then return soon after because nothing still can touch WoW

my cousin who bought AoC I tried so hard to convince him NOT to but he did and got burned with the bugs and how boring it was. He cancelled after his first month was up.

He had a link to a picture of the s tock of funcom and how it changed, it went up right before launch and was somewhat constant. Dropped incredibly after the first month was up LOL

Yes, I really enjoyed 1-20, but 20-80 sucked....it was lacking something I guess. Lots of features not working, 20s could destroy 50s, that sort of thing....I quit a few weeks ago, and went back to WoW.

my guild was even awesome, we had a lot of fun...but man that was the only thing there.

yup, put me down in that group as well. I wanted so much to like Conan but in the end it just didn't pull it off.

Like some others said, maybe in 6 mo I'll give it another try.

I hope not,no way I'm going back to WoW ,most of my WoW guild friends and I left and moved on to other MMORPGs ,I hated the PvP part its was not well implemented in my books, kiddies well too many of them spoiling the game with their arrogant attitude, anyway in the end not enough going on to hold my interest.

I'm still looking for my SWG (Pre CU) MMORPG replacement, sooner or later I'll struck gold.

I'll give Warhammer a try like I have with EQ2,Vanguard,WoW,Archlord,Dungeon Runners,Anarchy Online,9 Dragons,Guild Wars etc... to name a few.

My money is on this as well. No publisher/developer has been willing to invest the time and money that it takes to truly develop a quality MMO which succeeds past the first year or two for a while now. I can't say I blame them. It's a huge risk, but then again if you are going to do something you might as well do it right.

I think Warhammer has a better chance than AoC to be honest. First off its sticking to a very familiar formula, the combat system and other things are pretty standard, not something totally new like AoC. Also, Mythic has had one MMORPG that was really successful, so I think they know what they need to do for this one. From what I remember Anarchy Online suffered a lot due to bugs and bad patches as well, so maybe Funcom is just impatient or something.

Warhammer seems more polished to me already, a lot of little things have been taken into consideration and the likes.

Plus they have been taking their time testing/bug fixing the game before release, its had quite a delay so lets hope the time has been put to good use.

I play LOTRO not WoW, but I have seen quite a few of the folks that left for AoC comming back too. I was pretty excited about WarHammer too but with its recent cuts I may just stick with what I've got.

I went back to WoW from AoC simply because I never could find the same type of people that I've gamed with for over 5 years in AoC. I was a HoX (probably the most fun class in the game) and I did have fun with him. But once I hit 70 I couldn't seem to kill the same amount of mobs that I could pre-70. Tried different tactics/gems/armor/etc even. That's when the game stopped being fun and became a number crunching fest.

Yes, so I went back to WoW. Started playing with great friends. And to me it's not about the game of WoW; it's about the people.

I've been a big AoC supporter before the release and waited anxiously for years after I heard of the development of AoC. AoC has a lot of good things about it like unique fighting system, gorgeous graphics, and an immersive world that isn't afraid of taking risks when it come to redefining the MMO genre. Unfortunately, I have to agree with everyone on here that it is severely lacking in the end-game. I think its definately worth playing for a month or so since the PvE play getting to lvl 80 is pretty fun but I dont reccommend anyone playing this if theyre looking for a game to last them much longer than that in it's current state.

The problems with the game are:

1. lack of things to do other than raid at lvl 80.
2. lack of a good end-game PvP system.(super long wait time and short game play for pvp minigames)
3. PvP seemed unpolished. All the fights I've been in lasted seconds and it always seems kinda unbalanced.
4. crappy tradeskill system
5. weekly patches that break as much things as they fix and heavy handed nerfs that dramatically change the game so often it very similar to "paying for beta"

I don't like WoW either because I feel like the BGs got played out and I'm not really interested in raiding all day. I don't really like the direction they took PvP in and wish it was more meaningful.

I wouldn't hold my breathe for Warhammer Online. It's like the cartooniness factor of WoW and grind level from WoW x 2. Perhaps the endgame is better but low lvling in it sux.
