But you haven't demonstrated a willingness to consider other points of view, only to preach your own.

How is that learning?

Do you think you follow your own advice? We obviously are not reading things the same.
You go on and post what you want and I will do the same, if the mods don't like the way we post, I'm sure they will set us straight

I have considered your point of view. I have read everything you have contributed on this topic.

I have asked you questions about why you feel the way you do.

I find your opinion to be ill conceived and short sighted.

Have you considered mine? Have you read the things I have contributed?

The closing of that post is a cop out. Youre done debating the merits so leave you alone basically.

Ok
I see you talking past me
You asked questions to those who don't believe in self defense
That wasn't me, I see nothing I can answer
I think you assume a bunch of things and then stumble to catch up

I'm also trying to type with my finger on this gen 1 iPad and losing it, sorry about that

I fail to see where ive assumed anything except for assuming you dont believe in self-defense.

Ive asked you questions and given you a chance to state your side. How exactly is that ? Talking past you?

Also, how can you not answer if you have jumper cables and a fire extinguisher?

I don't have a car
I have a fire extinguisher
I guess I just don't feel the need at all to carry a gun for self defense

OK fine...do you have polar bear repellant?
Ointment in case your sled dog gets a blister?
Spare shovel in case you need to build an emergency igloo?

No to all the above.
Out of the entire American population, how many need to carry a gun?
I live a couple of miles above North Dakota, there are no polar bears here

I've spent a lot of time with country people in ND and Montana and none of them carried, is this mostly a city thing?

Not always but it is a relatively recent thing. Until not long ago, many states only issued licenses to special people. Retired cops and that kind of thing. But now most states are "shall issue", which means they have to issue a license unless you were naughty and don't deserve one.

I have plenty of country friends. They all have guns. Not many carry though.

Sounds like a lot of city people are experimenting with a new toy then
They will probably lose interest soon and not bother after the cool factor wears out

That does happen and its probably a good thing. If you aren't willing to prepare and train, then the gun is probably best left in a drawer. Leave it to the crazies like me to carry.

Out of curiosity, do you see the similarity here?

The larger point I'm trying to get you to see is that its totally OK for you to feel like you dont need a gun.

Its less OK for you to feel that other people dont need a gun, just like it would be inappropriate for me to sit here and say "You dont need that fire extinguisher. Its only good for one thing and do you know the odds of your house burning down? Practically non-existant."

Oh, you probably missed the hundreds of times I've already posted that if you guys need a gun to get out of the house and get to work, then by all means have at it
But I don't think it's normal

OK.

OK.

How about this; an ancient Canadian frost monster awakens from it's long slumber as you are driving into Montreal for some Cuban cigars. And, you notice it's weak point, as it emerges from the underground it was dormant for all these years. You have the chance to kill it, by shooting just ONE bullet at that weakspot... how could you NOT want to carrry a loaded firearm for that totally awesomg chance to save humanity from a mythical totally none existent threat?!
