Well, you have two choices. Canadian Army uses two sniper weapons.

1) 7.62MM bolt-action...I think the Americans call it the M42?
2) McMillan .50Cal bolt-action.

It's number two.

Definetely the coolest Canadian I've ever read about, with the possible exception's being Luke Fair and Greg Benz. Give him another medal, and give him a job in the US Marine Corps.

^^ Yet another possible exception. Currently ranks among the coolest Canadian's on ATOT, at the very least.

Unlike some of his peers, Perry says he suffered no emotional problems following the mission and his conscience has never been bothered by the killing.

"It's never overly bothered me. I like what I do."
I think thats plenty of emotional problems right there.. along with all the other stuff in the article

It's pretty clear to me from the article that this person is a psychopath. I'm all for the snipers doing what they do well, but this guy is a nut and needs to be locked away.

Maybe the CIA will recruit him, he's certainly what they're looking for. Briefcases full of money have been more effective than spy satellites in Afganistan and Iraq where intel is concerned.

Yeah I'm sorry, but if you play with corpses something is wrong. ESPECIALLY if you defecate on them. The cigarette thing is a bit sick, but perhaps forgiveable, but if the defecation thing is true that's just beyond the realm of acceptable. The guy can be a hero or whatever he wants, but he needs counselling. Would you really want to work with a guy like that holding a gun near you? Maybe I'm the lone exception, but I think being a sniper has twisted him to become pretty sick in the head, unless of course he was sick in the head to begin with. Either way, he should be at home getting help not in an area as stressful as Afghanistan.

Actually, credit the spotter who works alongside the sniper. It's the spotters job to identify the target and give the fire calculations to the trigger man.

Yep.. the sniper just has to adjust for his own breathing motion and squeeze the trigger. The spotter gives all the other directions.

Iono how the Canadian snipers work but usually the spotter isn't just a spotter, they're both snipers who could take the shot. Of course the spotter may be one that is a little better at spotting or not as good at shooting, but both should be credible, trained snipers.

he was hoping for a job as an instructor... so that's what the US should do for him.

The second was public and ugly. Perry, 33, and a 13-year veteran, was accused of discreditable conduct after he allegedly cut the finger off an al-Qaida corpse, defecated on another and then had his picture taken with a corpse that had a lit cigarette hanging from his lips and a sign around his neck reading "F**k Terrorism."

Yep, he'd fit right in if he joined the US military.

I bet the pressure of having to swear allegiance to the Queen caused him to crack. It probably sucks to be reminded that you're considered a peasant.

he may be a good shot, but he's clearly a sociopath from his comments in that article. i wouldn't want to entrust my life to him.

One of my first career choices growing up was a sniper. Always been fascinated by sharpshooting, this guy gets much respect from me.

Same. Always thought it would be neat to be a mercenary.

Of course the guy is a badass, but defecating on a corpse isn't acceptable. This is the kind of guy who goes becomes the white van sniper. He's a walking archetype!

How the hell do you hit something from 2,430m away!?! That's crazy. Most of the firearms that I've used don't have that kind of practical range.
