You do know there has been one majority EVER with more than 50% of the vote? Diefenbaker in the 50's.
Every election the losers cry for reform but none of the politcal parties do, so it appears to be working for them.
I'd like to see seat redistbutation by population though BC, Alberta, and Ontario are under represented and others over represented. The seat allocations haven't kept pace with population changes
If people vote in unqualified candidates and go w the party over the individual thats their choice, lots make it just dont expect cabinet positions for your guy

I have been after electoral reform for some time now. I am sick and tired of the current system.

Any system which prevents this from happening again.

I'd like to see some sort of proportional representation mixed with direct representation, and an elected senate. The PM should still be tied to the house of commons though.

The problem is parties are always vying for a majority. A proportional representation system almost assuredly prevents that from ever happening, so they will never go for it. You can't expect them to enact legislation which kneecaps themselves.

something that is more proportional rep.

Say we grab 5 ridings and merge them into one district. Each voter has 5 votes. You can either give all 5 votes to 1 person or spread it out.
That way, if I like only 1 candidate, I give him/her all five votes. Or I can spread it around.

It is entirely possible I get 2 good candidates show up in the district but representing different parties. I want to be able to get both to Ottawa.


This way, parties are not able to fuck with ridings too much.

Apparently the Libs and Cons are talking about voting irregularities and 100 signatures for the nomination petition. The votes still add up to her winning though, so I don't see the problem.
