Canada's "one tank" - The truth about the Canadian army

To all you people who think that Canada has only one tank you're actually correct, in a way. link. The leopard is the only fighting tank, and the others are support tanks (so they don't count in my book). Canada obtained 114 of these Leopard tanks in 1978. The tank was developed in the 60's.

so... their only tank is 23 years old huh?

at least our tank... the M1A2 is rather new 🙂
Developed in the 60's. I am guessing that the ones they got in 1978 were not freshly made but probably originals from the 60's that Canada got from some other country, kinda like what they did with the new subs that England didn't want any more and is now leasing to Canada (they leak and don't really work).

BTW does anyone have a figure on how many fighting/battle tanks the US has? Don't include support vehicles or "armored bridge layers"etc.

So that would be 114 plus the 27 variants they bought after 78.
I doesn't look like a bad tank but SLOW only 35 MPH?

The United States has just over 11,000 main battle tanks, of which about 3,200 are M1 "Abrams" tanks, the rest are M60 "Patton" tanks.

So the US is 10 X larger then Canada with 100X the tanks. Hmm....

It's all relative though...I mean, if you lived in Canada would you really go through the trouble of defending it? The other question is who would attack it?

j/k... 😛

Perhaps Siberians looking for a new home? 😀

Maybe because Canada is considered among the world's best peacekeepers - NOT warmongers?

whatever, if it wasn't for the US, Canada would have had to defend itself or be swallowed up by another country. The only reason you can be peacekeepers is because you have us warmongers next door.

Sure, and what does having a tank have to do with keeping the peace? Aren't tanks used for war?

And what good does one tank do for keeping the peace?

You're really not this dumb. You can't be. Of course tanks are used for war. They are also used to keep the peace, just like all other weapons.

Ask the Chinese protesters that got run over in Tianamen square. Those Canadians start protesting, you can run them over.

If there was no US, I bet South America or Mexico would have had a more powerful government. The strongest nation nearby would probably have gone after you at some point.
