Canada's Crime Rate

bigshot

Senior member
Wow, read an article on yahoo and it shocked me! Canada's crime rate is extremely low...especially homicides.

There were 548 homicides in all of 2003 in Canada. Thats pretty good for a population of 33million. And everyone thought Canada was getting more violent.

Isnt there like 1000 homicides a year in just LA or something. Man I love CANADA!!!

Anyways heres a link!!!

That's due to our inability to keep warm enough to comit violent crimes. That, and we're too busy training for dog sledding.

They certainly have the right idea on MJ legislation, at least in BC. I'm told eastern Canuckistan is still as repressive as the states about it though, anyone up yonder care to comment? 😀 <obligatory comment on crazed, hockey-playing lumberjacks>

I live on the eastcoast and no one seems to really care about the MJ thing.

We don't smoke enough for it to be that big of an issue I guess. 😀

WTF? BC and the west are much more conservative than eastern Canada, which is very liberal. It was actually Ontario that began all this back in 2000, not BC. BC gets a lot of attention from potheads and people who are just plain ignorant of what's going on because everybody knows BC has the best environment for growing the stuff in the wild.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Nobody bats an eye (or cares) if you're smoking a J in Quebec, even if you do it in public. Heck, I recently went to see fireworks from a nearby park: there was police presence and it definitely smelled like reefer, it didn't look to bother anyone including the police too much.

Of course the downside is... you have to live to Canada.

Canadians actually consider it an upside especially when we see things like the Patrot Act, DMCA as well as organisations like the MPAA and RIAA with their automated lawsuits... 😛
Then again, it gets mighty cold here in winter 😉

It's really not worth coming out of your warm toasty igloo to commit a crime.

Meh. I visited Vancouver BC about a year ago. The night we showed up we saw a pimp beating up a prostitute at Granville and Davie, the hotel desk clerk tried to defraud us on our pre-booked pre-paid rooms (I had to be a real ass to get my way), and there was a triple homicide down on Hastings.

Nice place to visit, but I decided not to stay.
