Canada's military has withered so thoroughly the country is practically defenceless, according to a study released yesterday by the C.D. Howe Institute.

"Whether Canadians realize it or not, Canada is now all but undefended at a time of danger," Dr. Jack Granatstein writes for the institute.

did you read the article? The writer of the report may be a bit paranoid, but I think he makes some good points about the neccesity of a strong army to keep US forces at bay (if neccesary) and so they can have a voice in the defense of the region (and continent).

All we need is someone to piss us off. THEN you would see a lot of recruits come out of the woodwork.

We are a very proud nation (we just don't boast about it all the time *hint, hint*) and 99% of people I know would fight to save our great country. Oh, and did I mention that we have an excellent supply of raw materials and factories to supply the war machine?
