Yes, for anything thats towed for the RCMP(police in canada), we use ICBC's rate set as its the law in BC, ICBC is the insirance corparation of BC, only place you can get insurance through in this province, well you can get comprehensive insurance through other companies now but rest has to be ICBC.

They have set rates that dictate what and when/why you can apply certain charges for a tow, such as a really low vehince, or recovery out of ditch to load vehicle. They also set the rates for distance, a base price plus X amount per kilometer. For a accident all these charges are usualy applied to the owners insurace(ICBC). If they decide not to go through insurance for whatever reason they are responsable to the charges before they pick up there car. If its not a accident its probably a 24 hour impoundment and license suspension for drunk driving. I dont feel bad for them when they whine about the price because if you drink and drive you are a idiot.

For the people that say "Don't park illegally". One of my coworkers had his car towed from his apartment complex because his wheels were slightly over the line. He was otherwise parked legally. The tow place was about 20 miles away on the far side of town. That was a $200 mistake for him.

this is why I just find a parking garage and pay. i also avoid the fucktards who use my car as a reverse parking sensor.

i generally try to park in between lines, and not in areas with tow signs.

and my golly, ive never been towed.

strange.
