Can you see a CRT flickering at 60hz?

yea good thing its the end of crt era. no more rows and rows of 60hz crts at schools/librarys work places etc. horrifying stuff. its like the old luddites just accept it as normal😛

yeah, but now we have rows and rows of LCDs all in a non-native resolution. 🙁

Agh..yeah. When I switch our 15" LCDs to 1024x768, people keep calling me over to "fix" their monitor (back to 800x600). :|

LOL, I'm also a compulsive refresh rate fixer.

*click-click-click*

"Is that any better?"

"...no."

*shrug* "Okay then."

Tends to go that way, doesn't it.. 😛

Definitely. I can see a difference between even 85 and 100, but nothing beyond that. I know people who claim to not be able to see flickering at 60, though.

Has to be over 75Hz

Anything under 60Hz actually makes my moniter emit a high pitched whine after a while.

this poll won'y be accurate becuase all the atot computer nerds want to claim they are 1337 and make use of their super powerful video cards

Except even the most ancient POS video card can do 72 Hz.

To me, 60 hz is absolutely horrid and I'll actually break into a sweat and get sick if I look at it for too long. Even 75 hz is nasty. 85 is ok, but I can still detect a flicker from the corner of my eye.

Tell them to set the refresh rate at either 60Hz or 85Hz when you're not looking, and you'll come back and guess. Repeat until they are convinced.

85 is high enough for me...right now I'm running an LCD, though. I still kinda miss my 21" Trinitron CRT...best monitor EVER!

Anything below 85 Hz will eventually give me a headache. Whenever I work on someone else's computer for the first time, assuming they have a CRT, the refresh rate is almost always set to 60 Hz. How they can stand to use that is beyond me. Either they don't notice or they must be dealing with some serious headaches.

Yeah, i dont get it either... and the worse is you tell them "how can you stand 60 hz refresh rate?" and change it to 85+ right in front of them and they STILL dont see any difference 😕
