I remember when we got our first real computer, back in around 94 ish, Cause we had windows 3.11 and then we upgraded to 95 and it was the greatest thing evar! (how little did we know :p) We got AOL at first, and since we didnt have any local numbers to connect to through AOL, we had to call long distance along with paying the AOL fees. From what I remember the first thing I looked up was playboy :p

1989 - I first tried Usenet on the college mainframe.

It was another year or two before I used email. Then I was using gopher thinking that it was nifty. Then another grad student introduced me to Mosaic on AIX. I was hooked. A short time later I installed Mosaic for Windows on the day NCSA released their first alpha. A few hours after that I wrote my first webpage. Tens of thousands of wasted hours later...

Yeah, it was in 94 or so. My aunt and uncle had it at their house and I thought it was so sick. Yahoo back then was practically nonexistant, much like it is today. And Google wasn't even being thought of yet.

Global Network Navigator (GNN) was my first ISP. 1.95 an hour!! I racked up a 75 dollar bill once (this was alot for being 14-15 years old) Got my first porn collection on our computer and forgot to delete the shortcuts in "documents" on the start menu and my grandfather found them and then my mom found out. weak.

LOL at all the porn responses.
I guess since porn availability hadn't been a problem for me, it wasn't a focus.
I was out DLing game demos and such. I remember downloading the Witchhaven demo... while I waited, I watched all three original Star Wars movies. And it was only like 10-15MB, IIRC.

Yep - Mosaic on an SGI box in Virginia Tech's Scientific Visualization Lab. Some kind of weather site.
Probably around 92.

Early 90's
with an OLD 8088 XT
20MB HD! and EGA monitor!
NO MOUSE
2400 baud modem.

Because I was only around 10, I couldn' afford AOL/COMPUSERV I mainly were dialing into BBS(s)
I even ran one for awhile.

Then my friends gave me a couple AOL phished accounts... hehe... and there was no turning back.
I think I also had to upgrade my comp just to use AOL..

Still feels like yesterday!

I don't remember how old I was, but probably somewhere around 6th grade. I was on a Gateway 2000 P75 with like 8 megs of RAM. It was AWESOME.

Dialed into AOL in another city and sucked up the long distance charges, and then proceeded to have no idea what I was doing.

And about 11 years later, here I am!
