Well, can you?

I was a freshman in High School, just turned 14 years old, I think it was early December (back in 1995). My dad bought a new P100 and we got america online. I had to limit my time though cause it was charged by the hour after a certain amount of minutes. Luckily a year later we just went to plain old dial up internet.

Yes. I was 15. We had just come back from overseas a few months prior, got P133 and AOL. That night, on a whim I went to see what this commotion was about adult material. My curiousity was piqued. That was the beginning of the end.

I remember my sister used the in der net while at college. My dad got it at home and then we would use IRC to talk back and forth. I was around 13-14.

We had Prodigy, I was like "WTF," my brother used it for some research projects and stuff.

Then we had AOL for a while. I was all over the Nintendo website, and my brother would look at the Playboy website at night.

THEN we got real dial up internet. I started posting on video game BBSs asking for help with Final Fantasy games and stuff.

When we got a dedicated phone line just for Internet, and I got my own computer, IT WAS OVER. You know in the Matrix where they stick the plug into the back of your head and feed you information like Kung-Fu, how to fly a helicopter, etc? Well imagine that, except loads and loads of PORN being streamed into your brain.

The Internet ruined me.

First chat room I ever visited was the Westwood chat when I use to connect to play C&C Red Alert.

I was on all these pirate BBS's and these certain people kept posting the craziest porn/warez/etc and when I asked them "Where did you get that" they said "The Internet".

I was like WTF is the internet, and signed up through COMPUSERVE (using a bestbuy.. um discount)

When I got on "The Internet" I had no idea what to do, and then I found Yahoo. Crazy, crazy times.

I tricked my mom into getting AOL when my dad was out of town. This was 10 years ago. My mom had no idea what was going on. My dad was mad when he got back :). I guess it forced my family on the net. Atleast we switched to AT&T after about a month.

Summer 1994, using an IBM XT with 13" orange and black screen, 2400 baud modem, dialup was $18/mo for 300 hours.

This was before the Mosaic web browser. I used mostly Elm (then PINE) for email, gopher and IRC.

Don't forget Lynx, on the University's VAX/VMS.
And I can still combine mutipart UUencoded files by hand.

Yes. I was underwhelmed. Everyone was talking abouth ow awesome the internet was. My dad acquired a netcom disk and a 14.4 modem, set everything up, and I logged on, saw an even older version of this, and thought, "That's what all this fuss is about? It's some text."

A coworker of mine found out of the U of Toronto's dialup for access to the Internet, probably 1993. We'd jump all around the 'net with good old text menus.

No, I don't remember my first time. I do know we got a 486SX in 1993 and I had many different free AOL/Compuserve/Prodigy accounts for the years that followed. On AOL I used to download airplanes for MS Flight Sim. I would also go into the Star Trek chatrooms and type "anyone here speak Klingon?" Then when people responded I'd laugh and leave. Crazy, crazy times. In any event, I was probably on the net sometime before we got that computer. What I can't believe is that I didn't join Yahoo until 1997.
