I just installed my 6th ceiling fan in my house. Here in Florida you'll get sick NOT running your fans. I couldn't sleep without them on ... even with the A/C running!

I slept with 2 honeywell turbo fans on yesterday.

One oversized and 1 regular sized.

I always sleep with a fan on. Have been doing this for years now. It's to the point where I almost can't sleep without one. No problems so far.

Me too. I find the noise now almost hypnotic.

I sleep with a fan on in Summer usually. My room has a computer and some halogen lights which really heat up. The AC hardly reaches my room so fan is a must.

And plus I like sleeping with a cover and fan rather than no cover no fan.

yes, if the ambient temperature gets too low while you have the fan on, you could get sick

but if its warm and muggy, then no you wont get sick

If the fan blades become loose and they shoot out of the fan and stab you in a vital organ sorta like a ninja throwing star, then you will get sick or die.
Otherwise, you won't get sick or die from leaving a fan on.

I think this is some sort of Asian conspiracy to sell cheap Chinese hand fans that won't cause illness like those evil American electric fans.

you might lose your hearing attenuation at the frequency the fan operates on but other than that...

A fan can't reduce the ambient temperature

In a closed room, correct. But a box fan in a window at night can certainly drop the room temperature in a hurry.

people seemed to latch on to the electric company notices that a ceiling fan does really no good when one is in a room and think that applies to all fans.

I always have a box fan running when I'm sleeping. Sometimes my allergies kill in the morning (due to outside air being constantly circulated) but otherwise it's fine.
