That's what I'm talking about!
Now what if the person is bigger than you. Let's say someone is 5'6" and 150lbs and someone who's like 6' 220lbs comes charging after you? Can you shoot them? Can't you just pull the gun out and say "back off buddy"

But if some dude jumps out of his car with a crowbar or something, what are you supposed to do? Yea you drive off to avoid confrontation but let's say you're stuck in traffic. Worse you have your kids or wife in the car with you.

If the guy is confronting you with a potentially deadly weapon such as a crowbar, then the use of deadly force may be justified in defense. I believe civilians have to retreat if possible before jumping that far ahead, but things are a little different for me.

i'm a small guy so im not gonna pick a fight with someone bigger than me. if someone comes at me and he's way bigger than i am, then i might have to pull a gun. now this is assuming i'm backed into a corner. if i could leave and avoid the confrontation i would.

That's not longer true in Florida. They passed some "macho huge balls" law where you're under no obligation to back away, or try to talk your way out of a confrontation.

See, your the kinda cop that I respect...One that actually helps and serves the people...The ones in Chattanooga, TN sleep, eat, and put the whole world in jail...I found 2 asleep in their cars in my school parking lot..

Geez...

Just a question I've been wondering about, and I don't want to hijack the thread, but what is the give on a posted speed limit to where you won't get pulled over? +2, +3? On some speedometers, it's hard to tell...

Selective enforcement allows for an unspecified and unlimited amount of "give" to traffic laws.

Yeah, most Soddy Daisy cops have a general rule: if it's 35 mph, then +10...45 mph, 15+ (which is actually reckless)...But is there a general rule?

AFAIK, the law says that the give is 5mph, due to the inaccuracy of speedometers and radar guns.

Yeah, I read about that...it'll be interesting to see if it has any real effect.

I really can't speak for other agencies. Some have stricter practices than others.

There is no "give" according to the law. The speed limit is the limit and that's that. How strictly they're enforced is a different matter.

OFFICIALLY the speed posted is the maximum speed. if cops pull you over because their speedgun is +1mph off then you might want to fight the ticket. UNOFICIALLY cops discretion.
