Trust me .. I bartended in a place called O' Mallys Irish pub


A Guinness or similar stout looks like all faom when served.

Head takes about 1-2 minutes to form

The proper way to pour it is to only fill it about 2/3rds full, let it settle for 2 minutes, then pour the rest. I hate bartenders who ignore this fact.

I thought it was pour down the side to minimize the foam

thats normal if you want to drink it within the next half-hour

otherwise just pour it straight it

certainly with normal ales an lagers you wont get a classic pint look with the rounded head UNLESS you pour down the side, just varing the angle and speed to get the perfect head

Many stouts are low calorie and high in iron... case in point Guinness

They give it to patients in the hospital with high iron deficiencies with their dinners sometimes.

Crap beer gets you fat and messed up (only its the next morning when you scrub budweiser off your tongue and feel like vomitting)
