Agreed, and it makes me sad that more people on the left don't understand this.

Remember JFK telling the public that getting involved in Vietnam was to stem the tide of communism and spread democracy, while his cabinet members were telling business interests that they were getting involved to pursue natural resources? Millions ultimately died because of that disgrace, and IIRC, JFK was no republican.
