I guess I'll be the big man and finally say the answer you're looking for. It's because he was a Republican. Most folks really didn't know this at the time. They were all confused with his greasy hair and five-o-clock shadow. They thought they were voting for the local used car saleseman that they like the best. But after they found out that he was actually the president, and not just any president but a Republican. When it was obvious that Nixon was going to win the Vietnam War, the Democrats knew that it had to stop. So they paid off two reporters at this Washington rag of a newspaper to phony up stories of gross misconduct, violation of Constitutional rights, abuse of office, you know, stupid little shit like that. And BAM! Suddenly the Democrats have demonized another upstanding Republican.
Now that's a load of Bullshit. Look up Hadleman, Erlichman, Dean, Liddy, Agnew and all the other lowlifes that were part of his administration or afiliates. There was nothing upstanding about the man or his Administration.

Democratic Marxist propaganda, all of it. I don't need to read books, newspapers, respected sources of information or use reason to know how it went down.

Don't you ever stop lying?

I'll just refer you to what I replied to CAD...

Your complete ignorance of history is showing... AGAIN... or, since you're so far out of touch with reality, I should say, STILL!

Either post some facts and links to disprove what I said, or STFU.

Nixon did some good things but those will always be tainted by his personality.

On Presidential Power

Frost/Nixon

That is one piece of the Frost/Nixon interview. There are a lot of pieces and the interview lasts for a good 1.5 hours but I would recommend you watch them. It's really quite interesting.

Nixon did indeed do some good:
Clean Air Act
Clean Water Act
Endangered Species Act

The Republicans didn't become nihilists hell bent on global environmental destruction until after Reagan took over the party.

Every once in a while we get a real idiot posting on Anand Tech, and ole Born2bwire is
running for for that real idiot distinction.

The point being, Born2bwire, watergate was a protracted eighteen month affair, at no point during watergate did the Republican party have less than 34 seats in the Senate. At any point during watergate , the democratic house could have voted for impeachment, and even in Nixon's darkest days, the Republican Senate could have stopped a conviction in the Senate.

But when the supreme court ordered the release of that last expletive deleted tapes, there was only one Republican left in the House and Senate that still was willing to support the soon to be ex-President Nixon. YO is full of shit, when Nixon was truly caught in the web of his own lies, it was the Republican party that was leading the fight to impeach and convict Nixon, and they were falling all over themselves to grease Nixon's removal.

Nixon was a morally bankrupt slimeball all during his political career, and Eisenhower should have dumped him during the checker's affair.

If asked, even as a partisan democrat, I could make a case for the the counterbalancing virtues of Nixon, but an inane argument like Born2bwire's
does not inspire such. Worse yet, someone like GWB, who has all the negatives of Nixon with none of his virtues, is a national tragedy of a far greater magnitude.

Yeah. I know. I'm old enough to remember it all the first time. The sarcasm was great when I posted that.

Born2bwire is also FOS on timing, hyperspastic partisan politics did not come to Washington until the times of Newt Gingrich.

Pfffft.... those are fake. They used computers to doctor up tapes of his speeches to make it sound like he said those things.

He wasnt any more corrupt the the majority of those that came before him. And he certainly wasnt the most corrupt.

LBJ and Nixon were the first presidents that had to deal with invasive media.

But he did get caught at it. The wrongs of others don't excuse what he did, and nothing makes what he did right.

You're not seriously defending nixon are you? This goes way beyond the call of partisan hackery. I'd guess even the repug leadership would be laughing at the idea...

The majority of POTUS' in U.S. history would have used the CIA and NSA illegally the way Nixon did, simply for political gain? Sorry, I don't buy that for a second.

That isn't some euphemism for "Bob the sleeper Marxist pinko commie whose sole purpose in life is to bring down the pillars of Capitalism and American goodness" is it? Because if it is, I'm not having any of it you dirty hippies.
